McStay contributed 3 goals across his first 5 games at Collingwood.

After returning from injury he contributed 17 goals from his next 9.

That mightn't make him Gordon Coventry but in those 9 games he was still going at double his career goal average.

To win the flag from here we're going to need a lot to start going right and one of the most important is getting McStay back.

He's a genuine wildcard for us because in reality we've only scratched the surface of what his presence does for the rest of our forward group.

Fair point too. I’m normally glass half full, but I’m looking at the ongoing injuries and I’m looking at the high number of debutants we’ve had this year because of the injuries - plus Ned Long this week! - and the pattern doesn’t scream premiership to me. They would be some mean kind of obstacles for us to overcome.

Pretty sure trust in his knee won’t be an issue if he’s already confident enough to be taking hangers in match practice.

absolute credit to him - he's put in so much work to get himself back to this point!! The man is hungry. He's a horrible story out of last years finals. Was huge for us in the back end of the season and in the first two finals. Going down in the prelim and missing a flag, its awful for him.

Thought we were holding well until players came back, but with injuries to Mihocek & Cameron tonight and McCreery last week it looks to be shaping as a year where we just can’t build a consistent team or momentum.

2019 Richmond is the exception. They copped a heap of injuries in the first half of the season, but were able to get them back. That’s not going to be our lot this year though.

Yep. I get annoyed watching other teams get no injuries week after week. Must be nice.
