So sounds like we still want to look at a couple of talks along with some small forwards.

We already know about Voss and Beattie. Wasn't there another tall forward linked to us around the same time as Odin, or was that Voss? Obviously I'd like Sanchez to get a look-in, but there's surely some other mature options we might trial.

Fremantle Dockers look to open up two more list spots with long-term injuries to Sebit Kuek, Josh Corbett

Fremantle Dockers are set to open up two more spots on their list as they look to fill the holes in the forward line left by long-term injuries and the shock departure of Lachie Schultz.
The Dockers have lodged requests to move key forwards Sebit Kuek (ACL, shoulder) and Josh Corbett (hip) to the club’s long-term injury list as the pair recover from surgery.
With the departure of Schultz in the off-season, the Dockers have been desperate to replace their small forward stocks, drafting Jack Delean.
The West Australian also revealed on Friday the club had invited Woodville West Torrens forward Max Beattie as a train-on player.
“We’re losing two talls with Sebit and Josh having long-term injuries and that also gives us the opportunity to have four train-ons,” Fremantle Head of Player Personnel David Walls said.
“We’ll look at a few different types there. A couple of talls and some small forwards as well.”

The Dockers reportedly have their eye on former Essendon rookie Patrick Voss for a train-on spot, with the pre-season supplemental signing period opening on Monday.
Ex-Gold Coast wingman Jeremy Sharp is set to join the club after opting out of both the national and rookie drafts.
Kuek was pushing for an AFL debut amid a blazing run of form in the WAFL last year, including a six-goal haul against Perth, before his knee injury ended his season.

“It’s unfortunate for Sebit and Josh, who have both had promising starts since arriving at the club,” Walls said.
“Josh and Sebit’s long-term health is our priority and the club will support them with their rehab while getting back to being able to play.”

We could easily turn the three first rounders and second rounder into two top ten picks if we're on the fringes of the eight even. There's probably little scope/reasoning to make mass changes to the list if we have an okay season next year tbh.

Probably 3-4 picks plus trades and one or two changes to the rookie list. That'd be it I reckon.

Once Darcy re-signs I'm not sure we have all that many players to worry about tbh. The rest of our re-signings will be list management decisions made by the club and/or easy enough to re-sign of we don't **** these players around.
We lose contracted players. To an extent it is worse than losing contracted players because it is destabilizing and unpredictable.

"a couple of talls" So Voss and Mclaughlin maybe?

Interested in who the other tall is, I reckon its more likely a more ready to go one as Jones essentially takes Kueks (Bennings?) developing spot while Corbetts ready to go spot is to be filled

With Dimma leaving the Tiges I wonder if we can pry Shai Bolton out of Richmond….

I would definitely rate Bolton a long way ahead of McDonald. But I don’t think it’s realistic to get him out of Tigerland.
He’s exactly what we need though. Bolton could be as good as peak Toby Grenne over the next 5 years if he hits the upper part of his ceiling… a proven absolute gun

Shame he’s on basicailly seven figures at the tigers.
He ain’t a chance in hell , not until OOC and a free agent .. and by then he’ll be what 29/30 ?… time for people to let that go.

As for McDonald the underrating of him on this board is borderline comical.

He’s not much better than Treacy, “no elite. traits “ ,“He’s not as good as amiss” etc etc

Not sure how many times it needs be stated but go back through 90% of top rated junior kpfs and most of them dont hit their strides to year 4/5/6.
Cameron and amiss are the EXCEPTION not the rule .
Imagine if we’d had a chance at Kennedy and Hawkins in their formative years … this board wouldn’t have given up a second rounder for them combined!

I’m with Docker82 on this ,McDonalds one of the most promising kpfs I ve seen come out of WA in recent times (and we’ve produced way above our average in terms of numbers of very good/elite kpp)

Him combined with amiss for the next ten years is our kennedy/darling with potential to be even better

Id happily pay 2 first for him- obviously not if both top 10 but something around 9/10 mark and late first is fine - who knows could even get a third back with that if we ever show some balls at the trade table

Below is the Treacy/McDonald comparison for 2023. There is not a lot between them.

Worth remembering we had Treacy playing as a 2nd ruck for significant periods. Treacy had a much better all round game (we all know this). Also that we were weak in attack even before Treacy was asked to play in the ruck. .

I like McDonald, but if we go with the forwards we have I think we can do ok. Looking for more out of Sturt in particular, and very interested to see what Jackson is asked to do.

McDonald kicked over twice the number of goals and three times the number of goal assists.
Yes he did. I think that highlights their different functions in the game rather than being definitive. Over their careers I do expect McDonald to maintain that superiority in those statistics, but that Treacy would close the gap substantially if he was a full time forward.

Double the goals, double the behinds, double the goal assists

Treacy had a part ruck role for part of the season, so naturally you'd expect him to beat Mcdonald statistically in terms of disposals, Mcdonald still slightly beats him in that.

Mcdonald averages nearly an extra mark per game too and this is over more games than treacy played.

I think the stats are quite clear on a gap between the two

The only thing Treacy really has him on is Tackles and one percenters, which we all expect

Tackles, 1%, Hitouts, Clearances, I50s, R50s, even contested marks, which surprised me. It’s clear they were playing different roles and Treacy was further up the ground than McDonald.
Treacy played 6 games as second ruck, which is over 1/3 of the 17 games he played. Of course he kicked less total goals than someone who played 20 games as a Key forward.
You would hope McDonald is a long way ahead of Treacy being taken at pick 4 vs Rookie pick 7, but there isn’t that big a gap.
If Darcy stays fit, or they bring in Knobel, Reidy or Odin if he or Jackson misses games, Treacy will spend more time forward and we’ll have a better comparison. Even then though, I’d wager McDonald will get targeted a lot more than Treacy does as Amiss is our #1 KPF.
