Motlop should have been available to us.
Ironically we take Henry when we should of taken Pickett.
To be fair though we have done well to get the WA boys back in Clark
and Sharp, Jackson.
The 2019 AFL draft is the Super Draft for our club.
Jackson, Serong, Young and Sharp.
well we matched for henry tbf, dont think we could have ever taken pickett?

Don't let that get in the way of a good whatif, it's not like we got to pick a top three (potentially pick #1) tall forward with a third round pick in the forties and then select Joel Selwood with a top ten pick and then both went on to play forever.

Don't think?! Of course we couldn't have taken Pickett, it was a bid match. That anyone still now, after it being pointed out on here a 1000 times, could be posting we should have taken someone else with Henry's pick beggars belief.

Which of Serong or Young would you have given up for Pickett?

I probably wouldn’t, and not qualified.
But if we ended up with Young, Pickett and Worner/Sharp I’d still be
stoked.
Irrelevant as we now own that draft👍
Why exclude the proven best player from that draft so far

Serong is such a weird one to leave out lol

Should Street is a great shortcut to Futile Loop and the most direct route to Heart Burn Way.

Not done with 2019 draft yet, I want Rivers as well to complete the EF trifecta, we’ve already brought in Jackson and Sharp. Rivers into the backline releases Chapman into the middle.

Plenty on here at the time questioned
the Serong pick.
Out of those two looking back I was all over Young.
Didn’t mind Serong but do you lose much with Worner?
Halfback/mid Young
Midfield Worner or Sharp
Small forward Pickett, that’s a pretty good haul.
Talent wise we are stacked.
I think we also may have rated Sharp
at the time.

You lose the guy who in hindsight should've gone pick 1 if you lose serong*

So yeah, I'd say you lose quite a bit tbh

*May change, most likely to fight it out are Dogga and Green

Do we thank Peter Sumich as state coach?
Or is he just like Forrest Gump?

How is Worner even in this conversation?!
Completely unproven at AFL level.
Sharp too.
There’s an even money chance both those players will not even be in the AFL system in 3 years time. There are literally dozens of types like that in and out of state leagues and AFL reserve sides every year.

The people who questioned the Serong pick were quickly made look very foolish very quickly. An absolute, cast iron certainty, a take it to the bank, bonafide gun for the next decade and already an AA. Right now I have him tracking to be our version of Joel Selwood and he’s absolutely on track to achieve that after 4 years in the system. He’s an obvious ten year captain of the club too at this stage with AB the only other in the mix.

I think he’s a level clear of Young and Pickett who will both be 200 gamers easily and probably AA at some point in their careers. It’s possible young goes by Sering if he has a Jordan Dawson like impact in the midfield over the next few years, but that’s still very much up in the air. I’d say it’s unlikely to happen but it doesn’t mean young won’t be a very decent player for a long time.

If it’s between Pickett and Young, it’s a lineball argument but I like the fact young plays in a more impactful position.

Warner who Sydney picked up, not Worner on Freos list.

So trade targets.....is the updated consensus that the options are potentially (that people on this forum vaguely want, regardless of means):

Out of Contract:
  • Logan MacDonald - Key Forward
  • Jacob Van Rooyen - Key Forward
  • Chad Warner - Wingman / Half Forward
  • Errol Gulden - Wingman
  • Bailey Smith - Wingman
  • Nic Martin - Wingman

Restricted Free Agent:
  • Tim English - Ruckman (RFA)
  • Cameron Zurhaar - Forward (RFA)

Contracted:
  • Sam Taylor - Key Backman
  • Shai Bolton - Midfielder
  • Kysiah Pickett - Forward
  • Jesse Motlop - Forward
  • Jamarra Ugle-Hagan - Key Forward
  • Daniel Curtin - Key Backman
Any other major players that I have missed?

Oh I see!! We need Snuffaluphagus to introduce some name spelling rules around here.
Mistaking Chad WArner for Karl WOrner is quite important giving the difference in quality between those two players 😂

As it turns out, we could have drafted Chad Warner instead of Liam Henry but that would have required some extraordinary bravery and foresight by Walls. Can’t really blame them for that one.

Gulden would be a dream get. Would really fill a gap and add quality

Probably only a few of those named are realistic targets.

At the time of the draft in 2019 the late mail was we were into Serong.
With hindsight yes Serong is a master stroke.
Still I think Chad at Sydney will be a very good player.
I’ll even admit our first pick this year?
But now is seems like we have found
another beauty, it is what Walls does.

Apologies I thought that Chad and Nic (as well as Gulden) had been raised either here or on the trading sub-forum?

Liam Baker interests me tbh

Probably goes to the Eagles tho

Bulldogs are going to be an interesting watch this year with rivals making plays for English (eagles) JUH (Sydney) and Smith (every vic club despite the acl), wonder who they prioritise in keeping.
