Ok I’ve had a really good look at the draftees and here’s my top 3 that I reckon could transform us.

1. Syd (Barker) Draper. Originally I had Jagga in this spot but the more I watched him the more his disposal is not what we need.

Syd’s agility and IQ in congestion is ridiculous. Some of the sidesteps in a phone box would make LDU and Butters drool. He has lovely skillls and his body shape will fill out to be a powerful unit in a few years time.

His skill set will compliment Wardlaw, Powell, LDU, Colby and Sheezel beautifully.

Go home factor could be a problem but make Powelly his mentor and we’re on our way.

2. Luke (Personal) Trainor. Gee this guy is going to be a jet. Reads the ball so well in the air or off the deck.

Lovely skill set that allows him to run off his opponent and cause damage heading into the forward half.

Kicks 60 metres for fun so can sneak forward for a goal.

A potential 10 year gun KPB - yes pls.

3. Isaac (Newton) Kako. A Tip Rat forward pocket who has electric pace, elite lateral mobility and kicks bags?.. say no more.

He actually looks just as good as Watson did last year.

Make it happen Thirstfields..

I don't reckon we'll have pick 1. We'll pass Richmond and maybe even WC. Especially if we beat them this week.
The Land Of Make Believe Wow GIF

But i actually think this might be an ok year to finish 2nd or 3rd last

Re champs games this weekend…..

Watching “The Midweek Crap” or whatever it’s called tonight had a news ticker below which said “Sunday 10.30am Vic Metro v Allies live on Fox Footy, 12.30pm Vic Country v SA live on Fox Footy” from memory. I checked the guide and it hasn’t been updated to reflect that yet but I take it that it will soon.

I've never watched any of them but I'll back your rankings to the hilt.

Anyone who says Draper isn't great is a bum.

With Vic Country playing their first champs game on the weekend it's time to take a closer look at the talented Lachie Jaques. Lachie is an intercepting and rebounding defender from the Geelong Falcons who's still flying a bit under the radar even though he's putting together a prolific campaign. He's strong overhead which allows him to play taller than his listed 184cm height, and has tidy foot skills.

There's a ton of raw talent on display in that Jonty Faull video.

It's very early, but I'm wondering what it would take for him to enter the pick one conversation. Obviously he wouldn't be considered if the draft were tomorrow, but is there a scenario where he rockets to the top of the board?

Obviously names like O'Sullivan and Smillie have him well covered, but our appetite for a forward might be strong enough that we'd consider Faull should he finish the year off strongly.

I know they've played no games but i feel like Metro is at a new level of strength this year. Big names at every position, Key defence Trainor and O'Farrell got a couple good nippy forwards in Kako and Jayden Nguyen (both from Calder) and their midfields a whole new level of stacked big hitters everywhere.

Anyone reckon any team comes close maybe the Allies but after scrapping past SA and WA i'm not convinced.

We had to use them, AFL headquarters said this in a polite way as to not be so direct.
Was this actually going to be the case or were we just assuming that’s what would happen.

Given we are currently bottom would be hard to justify taking anything of us.

The AFL's reasoning for that strong arm tactic was that we should use those 2 picks to get another Griffin Logue type who would help us off the bottom asap. It backfired because we used the picks and remain on the bottom. They would have only taken the picks off us in the event that we did rebound quickly.

We are on the bottom because this is the first year when the youngsters are taking the reign where last year + before, we were still relying on the older blokes.
