What about Alix Tauru for pick 11? Could he be that Isaac Heeney type for us?

The more i watch vision of Joe Berry, the more i think he would compliment our list extremely well. He is surprisingly courageous for his height and is rapid. Can crumb extremely well, and is a leftie too. We must take him with our first pick :thumbsu:

Moves like Zac Butters in congestion and has quick feet like Dylan Moore around goal.

He's a nice mix of forward line spark / outside speed that we're lacking.

Who is the player most like Dylan Moore.. IMO this type of player is what our team needs most to go to the next level.

The best ground/chaos ball small forward that isnt Kako is Berry, any team that wants to improve their finals small ball game should seriously look at Berry... (Carlton should be desperate to get him tbh)

I think Ollie Hannaford is fast approaching that discussion bearing in mind he's only more recently switched from small pressure defender to a full time goalkicking small pressure forward. IMO he has both Kako and Berry on the high pressure gauge. Has a hardness and aggressiveness to his game that both Kako and Berry can't match IMO.

Dattoli is really growing on me as a well rounded, natural footballer, beautiful disposal too...if he was a tad quicker would be talked about in the top dozen I reckon....the hesitation is we do need that speed, chaos type player

I dont watch much hawthorn but Moore seems like a half forward, not traditional small forward, with elite endurance who covers a lot of ground. Going by what Moore was as a junior, a small midfielder with a good contested game that could play forward, the two players that sound a bit like that are dattoli and gross.

Kako and hannaford look like very up temp fast small forwards. Berry looks like he could play a more half forward role to me.

My only complaint is his speed also. Seems a bit one paced.

He does remind me of Lachie Neale body shape wise. If he could develop a bit of explosive acceleration he'd be immense.

To anyone suggesting anyone not named Joe Berry or Taj Hotton

Gee Hannaford was impressive kicking six goals on the weekend. Imagine we jagged Berry and Hannaford in the draft. We’d completely transform our forward line, especially if Moir has the preseason of his life.

Rosas and Berry would be equally exciting if the Gabelich talk is true

Watching the last few games of Hannaford clipped up can definitely notice the difference in class of him and Berry. Berry a bit more silky, Hannaford more of that dog hungry terrier style small forward.

Can't say I'd be disappointed with either but Hannaford certainly looks a touch more prone to a few clangers/bad decisions due to the frenetic pace he plays at. Looks good though.

He reminds me of Milne with his acceleration and agility. Gets the legs pumping and gets himself out of a jam.

Agreed that he’s not as silky as Berry but he’s got speed, overhead marking, goal sense and desire to be physical and lay tackles. I’ll be interested in his combine testing (I believe he got overlooked for the national version but I assume he’ll get to the state combine) but it looks like his game will translate to the AFL.

In fairness, Walshy… at least those people are taking our picks to the draft, rather than gunning for Houston.
I think I've just accepted that we're probably going to trade some of our picks out to spend on some sugar hits rather than build some quality youth through the hitting the draft hard... but my dream of Berry + Hotton or Berry + Travaglia won't die until we see Dan Houston in a Carlton kit in a few weeks time!

I'm still not sure what the right strategy is for our overall list, Houstons a weapon and could deliver us a flag next year... but if it doesn't come off and we miss out on some of these kids in this draft we're looking very very thin in the youth department with Tassie very near on the horizon.

Houston + Berry/Hotton somehow would be a thing of joy but can't wrap my head around how it gets done.

Houston is a lock to be one of the best HBF'ers in the league. He has been top 10 for a few years, I'd take that in a heartbeat over getting Berry.
