Who should Carlton take at Pick 3 if available?

I just look at Lindsay and wonder if he's that much better than Carroll that you'd want to spend pick 11 on him.

Carroll has shown he can dominate consistently in the VFL and it wouldn't take much more improvement (and support) for him to become a regular senior contributor. I don't think he's maxed out his development path yet.

Or is Lindsay a longer term replacement for Newman?
Lindsay has more pace, agility and stronger overhead, can play in areas that Carroll doesn't

I see Lucas potentially playing Newman's role

In the footage shared earlier I did not see Lindsay kick on his right foot once?

Not many left footers do

To my eye there’s a big gulf between the two. Lindsay’s kicking is just far better for starters. Lindsay looks like a much better runner/mover to me as well.

Carrol is at an age where it becomes mostly established as to what he is. And right now he is just a fringe player who doesn’t really make much of an impact. Maybe Carrol could get a bit better, maybe not.

Good prospect Lindsay, my only major query would be he's cleanliness below his knees. Kept on fumbling it during his attempted ground ball gets. Would mean he'll struggle to play any sort of inside role at AFL level. Probably best suited to a wing, half forward or half back.

Based off what out of interest?

Last year’s conundrum Koen Sanchez 18 possies and 5 goals WAFL reserves final.

Still wondering what was the issue stopping his drafting. Looked seriously good in U18 Champs 2023. Not advocating, but I still find his fall from grace fascinating.

As his playing reserves, does that suggest he has off field issues or the recruiters were right to pass on him?

It does feel like we're not going to have many picks in this draft.

Campo boys and if we actually go down the Houston path, I think we're looking for some late round drifters.

The form guide from picks 19 -26 feels like throwing all the talls in this section because it is too tough to rate them.

Shananhan - I did love, did not have an amazing end to the season
Whitlocks - I have no idea where to rate them
Faull is the same as the Whitlocks.

Dodson to me has massive potential to be one of the better rucks going around and somebody LONG LONG term is going to be happy with this selection.

With the rise of small forwards, I can see a Hannaford styled selection increasing in value.

l would still expect us to have quite a few picks in this draft, any deal for Houston would have to involve trading next years F1st & possibly what we acquire for Owies.

There is a quite a depth of talent in this depth, hopefully we can have 1-2 selections before Ben Campo who looked to be rated 30+.

Interesting Trainor is now slid to 16 & Lindsay at 18.
Berry looks to have maintained his rating.
Trainor has a concussion history (multiple) clubs might be nervous. Twomey’s “ratings” are all about feedback from club recruiters and player managers.

The Campo boys aren't really rated, maybe we told them too cool down since we going to pick them up regadless?

Lots of sliders from the power rankings in August. Unfair that Brisbane get Levi.

Defintely can get a lot of talent with pick 11 if we can get multiple picks in the top 30.

He must have been dirty

Lindsay and Hotton wouldnt be the worst outcome, should we cool our jets on Houston... can see a Sid Draper or Smillie possibly sliding also... gotta be a few talls that get taken before our pick
crows supporters are focussed on Sid Draper. Dont want to deal with the go home factor...

I do wonder if we will be engaging in live trading

seems a few players that we could be interested in have slid

opportunity to improve our draft hand live?

I'm really a bit indifferent re Houston. If it helps us win a flag then it's absolutely the right move, if we can't get a deal done though a mix of any of Berry, Hotton, Lindsay, Travaglia would have me happy. Obviously everyone knows who my preference is from that group but it's certain to be a good draft imo.

Pommy had us taking Trainor @16 and Berry @21 in a mock draft he did where we traded a few picks around.

Concussion issues are quite concerning for Trainor if he's slipped from a top 5 candidate to a top 20 in recruiters mind though. Interestingly apparently only the AFL is allowed access to draftees medical reports before they get picked up so the club could go in a bit in the dark on him.

Question marks around his concussion issues supposedly. May be related to his slide down the latest draft rankings
lt is such a even draft club ratings may vary more so than other years.
Trainor is a quality young defender, having more than 1 pick in the top 20 would be ideal.
Trainor & Lindsay & Berry probably could not go wrong with all three.

I am gravitating to Trainor.

Set him up as the future. Give him a year of development

Posted some time ago that he would slide. Part concussion, part other factors, but nothing to do with character

Football ability, I see him as the standout tall and within the top 6 long-term overall, if he can work through a number of areas
