I put up a rough Top 10 phantom about a month ago to just get the ball rolling. Had the Tiges taking Lalor then, and still think they will. He's too tempting when you have a suite of other insurance picks.

He has the highest ceiling.

Doesn't hurt that Dusty is still so vivid in every black and yellow imagination either.

Just out if interest I did a consensus draft rankings based on most recent ranks from afl.com, rookieme, heraldsun, espn. Paints an interesting picture. Not saying that's how it will go.

There are a few scores that skew the rankings but paints a picture of a clear top 8, then a sub group of 4, then another group from 12-20. So 8,4,8. The 20 is pretty clear.

The top 8 we got no shot at. Our picks probably come from that next group of 12. It sounds like Tauru probably pushes up to top 10 which will push others down.

1. Ashcroft (1,2,3,1) =1.75
2. Smith (3,1,2,1) = 1.75
3. FOS (4,7,3,4) = 4.5
4. Langford (2,4,4,9) = 4.75
5. Lalor (6,6,6,6) = 6
6. Draper (8,9,5,2) = 6
7. Reid (5,3,7,16) = 7.75
8. Smillie (7,8,8,10)= 8.25
9. Lombard (13,10,12,5)= 10
10. Armstrong (9,12,9,11) = 10.25
11. Travaglia (11,14,11,8) = 11
12. Allan (12,4,14,17)= 11.75
13. Trainor (16,15,13,12)= 14
14. Kako (14,13,15,15)= 14.25
15. Lindsay (18,16,17,7)= 14.5
16. Hotton (15,11,17,18)= 15.25
17. Tauru (10,18,10,23) = 15.25
18. Berry (17,17,22,13)= 17.25
19. Shannahan (19,20,16,14)= 17.25
20. Whitlock (20,19,20,20)= 19.75

Well with the recent Bluemour...

What would people prefer going into the late 2020s?

1 - Walker Walsh Cerra Lalor

2 - Walker Walsh Cerra FOS

3 - Walker Walsh Cerra Draper

4 - Walker Walsh Cerra Smith

5 - Walker Walsh Cerra Smillie
Smith or Lalor.

Smith is an absolute ball winning and running machine who could easily follow the same path as some other special talents at the top end like Daicos, Sheezel, McKercher have done in recent years and start off as a high half back

Lalor could develop over time into that Petracca type high level dynamic midfielder. He’d spend longer developing than the other high picks. He’ll spend time in the reserves, spend time injured from collisions and he’ll spend most of his first four years at half forward but he could potentially be one of those dominant powerful midfielders that most premiership teams need.

I like Draper but his disposal concerns me. Also has no left foot.

Jagga Smith would instantly make us quicker inside to out.

Lalor I just don’t think it’s worth the risk. No tank and hasn’t shown enough.

FOS feels like he has almost taken it easy this season. Watch some of his early games in the Coats league and he’s incredible. Maybe Walshy has been in his ear lol.

Pick 3 - Smith, FOS or Draper

I’m just a watcher of the highlights, where most look great… any reason Langford not in the conversation at 3 should we get it. Looks just as good as any of the other names.

Me thinking about the TDK, Draper, Walker and Walsh on-ball brigade

I'd be wary of writing off FOS too..my biggest concern is he rarely seems to gather more than 20-22, but they tend to be quality possessions. Has good speed and agility and could be that class we need to add to the mix
