Interesting that Clancy Dennis didn’t even crack a mention as being unlucky to miss out. Strange that an All Australian key defender doesn’t get rated in the top 60.

Perhaps U18 AA selection isn't the measuring stick it once was. Kieran Collins' a cautionary tale as far as needing room for growth and development.

While no recruiter has picked the best player at each pick over their tenure (they could write their own ticket if they did), it should always be the goal

Pick 3, you would be looking for 200+ gamer, but no reason you can't find 2 players like that late in the 1st round
At Pick #3 i'm looking for a Brownlow / Norm Smith medalist.

Agree, one should expect nothing less form the top 5 youngsters in the land.
The hit or miss, drafting is a gamble let offs or excuses for poor selections just don’t cut it, systems are more sophisticated and the advancement in Football management and operations are significant.
The salaries are huge too.

Have you guys in a mock draft, how many picks do you expect to take? 1 or 2 + the twins?
I think the intention is to take midfielder at #3 (Austin has indicated a preference for speed/x factor at #3), at #38 likely a key defender but potentially another key position player if best available and then the two Camporeale's thereafter.

Austin Lucy.

Highly rated pre draft, AA CHB/FB in 2005.

Went at Pick 66 to Essendon and only lasted a year.

Exactly. But there will be 4 picks inserted and 4 picks burned, which leaves us back where we started. When Ashcroft is taken, we will go into 37 as one pick is inserted and two burned. Then Lombard pushes us back to 38 as one pick is inserted and matching picks are after 38. Then Kako brings us back to 37 as one pick is inserted and two burned. Then Marshall takes us back to 38 again as one pick is inserted and the matching picks are after our pick.
No worries TODN, it's just me being nit picky at 7.30 in the morning.

Initial post read - "There will be 4 bids in academy players before our pick, and 4 picks burned matching those bids." Just clarifying the 4 picks burned are to match just two of the bids not all of the bids.

I'd be happy to have a 200+ gamer that has impact rather than a pure accumulator
Sounds like you are not enamoured by the Jagga selection Arrow, fair enough. I share a similar concern and would much

prefer FOS, Lalor, Draper as they each seem to be capable of reaching greater heights imo.

Not to say that young Jagga will not be a terrific player, I think he will be. Does look like he badly needs to put on seven

kilo's or thereabouts to be able to compete and not get banged up quickly at the highest level.

FOS is great above his head for his size and is a gifted athlete. Loves kicking goals as well, is a powerful kick over 55.

Just praying that Tigs don't take him and he falls to us. Anything can happen, so many varied opinions on who clubs will

take. In Austin I trust.

Two things. Better to have the ball than not, and, Cripps is 29, Hewett getting older, just lost Kennedy, you have to keep topping up the mid bucket with the best available options.

We also need to keep investing in KPD. The back 6 wins Premierships.

Hence my absolute willingness to trade back for Smillie and Trainor.
We had 12 & 14... So there is no way we would be trading Back for selections that we already had

If Richmond land pick 2 then we will guarantee Lalor and FOS. I’d hope Jagga slides to 6 as well. If we retain that pick.
you guys need a ball mover. Langford would be a great example can kick far loves to gains metres and is a threat inside 50.

Problem is no one knows if Smillie/Trainor will even be available, or if Austin will select either of them. Trading up for Pick 3 would suggest that he doesn’t want either of those players as they don’t sound like top 3 selections. I am happy with the trade.

I think there is little to no chance of Jagga getting to six.

Langford isn’t what we need to compliment our contested (read: already one paced) midfield unit.

Do you think you would take Jagga if we don’t
In a heartbeat.....if the ducks all line up and Richmond take FOS and Lalor as expected, then I'd hope that Carlton take Smith. From what I've seen of him, he looks a jet.

Bit of wishful thinking he slides to pick 6. BTW, how do you think you'll retain pick 6 and get pick 2?
