Re the latest in Bluemour File.

Yep. It's been 'the vibe' all along. We may as well start filling the welcome wagon for FOS.

Nice work there Scoop!

Draper averaged close to 5 tackles a game in the SANFL.

I wouldn't look at his champs statistics too much considering he was coming off shin splints.
not the point. Both of them are fine / good defensively. The assertion one would massively improve defense and the other wouldn't was just wrong. They're both good defensive runners, willing tacklers and sharp chasers.

If Sid adds goals to his game and better use of kicking efficiency look out.

He’s the type of bloke that will work his butt off to reach those goals
if Langford added some pace.
If Smith added an extra 10m to his longest kicks
If FOS played faster

Ifs and buts. All of them have hard worker reputations

LOOK OUT

One thing I will say is … IF we did select FOS at 3.

It would be the third year in a row we are selecting a player mostly on the back of their underage form - albeit a very expensive player on this occasion.

2023 - FOS?
2023 - Moir
2022 - Lemmey

Anecdotally, it feels like drafting on underage form generally doesn't work out so well.

Obviously there are exceptions, and there are often reasons/injuries behind form drop etc.

But overall I don't feel it's a great strategy.

It makes me nervous too, but the trick is obviously establishing why the drop off. Sometimes the reasons are legit which allows you to grab a good player you wouldn't normally get a look at...the big caveat for me is that the consciousness and work rate is evidenced and the player hasn't been coasting off natural ability.

Lalor, Smith, Draper, FOS all had injuriy concerns

Remember Rozee has an outstanding under 16 year, 17 solid but struggled somewhat in his final year

We need more players like Walsh and ones that don’t bomb the ball. Jagga projects to be similar but uses the ball better imo. Captain in waiting.

You don’t say no to Jagga if he falls to our pick
Not sure those 2 go together. Walsh is one of the worst going inside 50. Hope Jaggas inside 50s are better than his.

If we draft FOS, I'll support him wholeheartedly. I'll still fair dinkum SPEW UP if we do. He's so high risk IMO. Low possession count, injuries, seen him get caught htb a few times trying to do too much.

I'd MUCH rather go with the safer option in Smith (if he's already gone, then Draper). Smith is in the Naicos / Butters mold. Accumulates and creates. Slippery. Very low risk. Yes, his ceiling may not be as high as FOS, but he could play 12 - 15 next year and make an immediate impact. FOS will take at least a year, maybe more.

If you had the draft hand Richmond have, then you'd FOR SURE take the chance on FOS. We only have one shot at it, and I'd take the sure thing.

Vote SMITH #2025

Only 2 more weeks, with no new information to inform an opinion, before draft day - not sure it is long enough to figure out where people on this thread stand
A clear trend has already emerged in the poll on where people stand…more than half the voters think we should take Jagga.

Small sample and early days JR, but would take a massive swing to change this trend.

I guess it's likely that we're not going to Adelaide to only interview him, but that we have booked in an interview with him.

Main reason is to have dinner at Stig's place....

Draper, West and the twins would be a fair haul out of SA this year.
Imagine that they’d all settle nicely in Melbourne together …
