AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Exactly.I wonder how much these recent draftee interviews impact our order? I doubt we had many chats throughout the year, so our initial thoughts were probably influenced more by on field performance and athleticism
Watching Jagga and Draper talk (Jagga impresses me marginally more) they just seem like ultra professionals, deep thinkers, future captains. Several players have said that Jagga is the hardest trainer they have ever seen. Drapers' manager said he is the most professional player at his age he's ever seen. Whatever happens they will 100% get the best out of themselves.
FOS seems like a great kid. Not saying he is unprofessional but just doesn't come across anywhere near as impressive. That's not a reason not to pick him. Plenty of the AFL's best aren't Sam Walsh, Trent Cotchin types. It's often good to have a few more laid-back types around the club.
But I'm just curious, how much impact this might have in getting Jagga or Draper over the line, particularly if it's tight? I find it hard to imagine Voss walking out of a meeting with those 3 and being more impressed with FOS then Jagga or Draper.
One one 'journo' has made that claim...Please explain why we would select a player who has a chronic back ailment even before they have joined us?
He may have all the qualities of the other draftees but they do not have a chronic back issue before starting their career.
Everyone has hopped off Hotten because of his ACL, a back issue such as Draper has is much worse and will be degenerative over time.
One 'Journo' who has not been disputed. One one 'journo' has made that claim...
And you reckon CFC wouldn't be doing thorough due diligence?
Can you explain this back issue for me, point out where it's been reported and how, and let me know how you project handling it moving forward? It seems like you know a lot about it.Please explain why we would select a player who has a chronic back ailment even before they have joined us?

Think Cal Twomey also reported it and that’s why he didn’t test at the combine? Can you explain this back issue for me, point out where it's been reported and how, and let me know how you project handling it moving forward? It seems like you know a lot about it.
It's weird, I can't see much about it being reported outside of one article by a dodgy online only media company. I assume you have some more information on it.
Afaic, picking inside the top 3 I'm not after a defensively rounded midfielder. I'm after a gamebreaking match winner. Their defensive efforts are a fairly distant concern for me right now.everyone is going on about Drapers defense but Jagga's highlights show him doing the same. Why isn't his defense efforts being talked about?
If it's
1. Lalor
2. Finn
Would we take a trade with Adelaide to slide back 1 place and take Jagga instead of Sid?

Whoa, big Draper fan, but a ZeroHanger article suggesting he missed the draft combine due to a chronic Pars Defect is a massive go slow. For it to be manifesting at his age is scary. We already have Walshy with a chronic back (and George)
I have a Pars Defect among other things, admittedly I am of a different vintage and it took decades to severely impact me(along with pelvic procedure), but it is debilitating. Leg neuropathy is a common symptom, mine rampant. Not a surgeon, so hard to offer meaningful feedback regarding potential impingement and possible impact at his age. I am concerned that it is reported as the reason he missed the combine, suggesting early issues. Spine can be fused as treatment, doubt it would be a positive outcome for his movement range. (I cannot have mine fused as my entire pelvis is already fused and both in conjunction would leave me with next to no movement)
Massive need for due diligence off the back of that report. Love the kid, but wow?
Appologise to Coona Blues for using his posts. But FlowersByIrene Why did you not ask back when this was first raised?I find it astounding that it has not been more in the media. ZeroHanger is hardly mainstream media. The word chronic is quite alarming. The suggestion that it was the reason he did not take part in the combine is the biggest trigger.
I was aware, in part, of my defect at around 20. My chiropractor (old school, up with any physio, ortho you would meet) told me early I would have significant trouble later in life. While I can’t say didn’t affect me until later, not knowing how it contributed to soft tissue injuries etc, with regular adjustments I stayed in decent condition in to my thirties.
It is quite possible the condition could be managed in a professional environment and he could have a long and successful career. How on earth do we gamble on that though. We have Walshy already compromised with spinal issues. We would be exceptionally game to gamble on medical grounds. There is, of course, always the chance that there is an exaggeration in order to discourage suitors.
I genuinely have had Draper no. 1 in a very open draft. DUE DILIGENCE is essential though.
Yeah but what do you notice at the top of that list of players - the name Patrick Cripps, a player that already plays for our club. So take a look at the midfields of the best sides in the competition: like Sydney, Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs and you'll find fast, explosive midfielders like Chad Warner, Adam Treloar, Conor Rozee etc that compliment those every game superstars like Patrick Cripps.
In the end it will come down to environment, development by Carlton, and the players intangilbles for which ever player we select.I wanted Draper, then it was Jagga, and most recently came around to FOS. Now it's changing by the hour and I'm genuinely undecided. I guess that's a good thing as can be happy whatever the outcome.
Media gossip has a big influence this time of the year, next week will be an unstoppable frenzy, they create the hype , it’s all spun to attract revenue.I wanted Draper, then it was Jagga, and most recently came around to FOS. Now it's changing by the hour and I'm genuinely undecided. I guess that's a good thing as can be happy whatever the outcome.
This Grand Final just gone - none. However, the last one he was in, had one of the highest rated individual games ever.Chad Warner had what effect in the GF exactly?
I keep changing my mind as well and then I tell myself that Austin doesn't care what I thinkI wanted Draper, then it was Jagga, and most recently came around to FOS. Now it's changing by the hour and I'm genuinely undecided. I guess that's a good thing as can be happy whatever the outcome.
Just imagine if Big Footy was around when we were supposedly torn between James Cook and Jason McCartney. That would have been an epic thread!I wanted Draper, then it was Jagga, and most recently came around to FOS. Now it's changing by the hour and I'm genuinely undecided. I guess that's a good thing as can be happy whatever the outcome.
Dow, SPS, Cuningham., Fisher, O'Brien, Philps, Menzel - do you really really need me to go on?Don’t agree with suggesting the draft is a lottery theory. Natural ability, footy IQ, athleticism, strong character but well grounded and determination to succeed. These are the golden traits.
Our recruiting team is fully aware of what the team needs, it’s their function to find the youngsters. At selection 3 there’s no excuse.
