Pick 38 thoughts on Austin & Co are eyeing off with that pick?
Should be some good KPD’s and KPF/Rucks around our pick…

Personally if we are going for a defender I’d like

1. Clancy Dennis 196cm WA
2. Harry O’Farrell 197cm VIC

3. Charlie Nicholls 197cm WA
Really like this kid he’s a talented duel position player at both ends, start off as a 3rd tall then potentially as he matures will become a genuine KKP…

KPF/RUCKS
Sims 199cm VIC
Stumpf 199cm VIC
Gerryn 199cm WA
Burmeister 199cm VIC

I’m not saying they never said anything, I’m just saying what came out of Austin’s mouth. He was asked a lot about Houston and his response was always not overly keen, it had to suit us to make it happen.

I do recall Austin focusing on the draft and him saying that was the priority
Vossy would have been fairly disappointed not to get Houston, imo. Great that Austin is given free reign, to do his thing.

Jagga might be a jet but I don’t believe he’s the jet we need.
Concerns over his build / size.
We want a game changer, a game winner. A beast of a player.
Has to be Sid. Then Langford.
Does FOS get enough of the pill to be that game changer?

Also interested to know where this talk of Sid being a draft slider is coming from?
Is it fear rumouring over his back injury?

Nobody thinks he is sliding in the media. Just a few people on this board have suggested it.

Possibly. It is a little telling though that the Crows, who have for a long time been linked to Draper (and is a home grown talent), are now reportedly very keen on Jagga instead

There's been some rumors around for a while that they like Jagga. I think the Draper to crows link has just been lazy journalism. Crows historically haven't been afraid to overlook locals in the first round.

Not saying they don't like Draper. He may even be their first choice. I just don't think they've been as locked on him as some make out.

Taking a step away from the nervous handwringing (or at least that's what i'm doing) regarding who we draft.

Did you guys all know that Leo Lombard (GC Academy Player)'s dad is former UFC and mixed martial arts Cuban fighter Hector Lombard. Here are some of Leo's dad's highlights.

Looking forward to what Leo can deliver in the first melee next season.

Did know that.

Iirc his Mum is an elite runner of some sort, I don't remember which medium exactly, but he certainly has some explosive athleticism in his DNA.

If Crows jump to 2 and pick Jagga over Draper that would be a big deal in the SA media and a real slap in the face to Sid. Hopefully it would give him extra incentive to have a massive career if we took him at 3.

I reckon they take Draper if given the opportunity. Easier to keep the South Aussie in Adelaide throughout his career than a Victorian.

I am firmly on the FOS train. There is a reason why the Tigers are strongly considering him now at pick 1. But I would think Lalor is just a little too tempting a proposition for them.

In FOSs' last match for the Oakleigh Chargers this year he had 20 disposals and kicked two goals to be his team’s best player in their four-point preliminary final defeat to the Rebels. The kid does not need any more than 20 to have huge impact. Imagine when he builds into his body and starts getting mid-high 20's while kicking a goal or two each week!!

But any of Langford, Smith and Draper (or Lalor if it happens) would be amazing gets. We really can't lose

There is sometimes a tendency for clubs to undervalue what is guaranteed and overvalue growth. Jagga Smith and Lalor kind of reminds me of Essendon in the Andy McGrath Hugh McLuggage year. McLuggage was the No.1 pick apparent for two years and the love for McGrath developed late. I guess people got bored of talking about McLuggage. Looking back that was definitely the wrong decision, I have a suspicion that Lalor could be the similar selection. Has a lot of upside but if I had to bet on long term careers I reckon Smith, Draper and Langford have him covered when its all said and done.
I’ll never understand why Essendon left there luggage on the carousel

Gerryn would be a good pick up for us if we could get hold of him.
