Agree. We’ve needed one if not two drafted developing KPD’s over the past 6 years, imagine if we currently had a 22yro B22 partner for Weiters and our backline, as well as another a year or two currently developing in the reserves team…
They get worse as each day passes. If the draft was in January theyd pretty much be undraftable.I really think this entire draft period is a fascinating psycho emotional watch.
Following the finals series, we would’ve been falling over ourselves at the thought of being able to add any one of Sid Draper, Jagga Smith, FOS, Harvey Langford to our midfield.
One month later, and now that they are available to us, we sit back and try to point out every flaw that each of them have to convince ourselves not to add them.
“Drapers kicking on the run isn’t great”
“Jagga, goes backwards too much and doesn’t take enough ground”
“FOS seems too flakey”
“Langford isn’t a POD for our midfield and isn’t quick enough”
Are you suggesting the past month has been repetitive or going around in circles on here…..Wednesday can’t come quick enough I think everyone has had more than their say and opinion on the top 4 or so players.
Just need to get it done now.

Looks quite good, but would be amazed if Harry Armstrong slips to 16, expect Melbourne with their 2nd pick 9 or Richmond at 10 or 11 to snap him up.Last day for thoughts/predictions/guesses before Twomey hugely influences things with his largely accurate info tomorrow:
My crack at a 1st rd prediction on actual draft night:
1. Rich: Sam Lalor
2. Rich: Jagga Smith (For 6&18)
3. Carl: Finn O'Sullivan
4. Adel: Sid Draper
5. Mel: Harvey Langford
6. North: Alix Tauru
7. StK: Josh Smillie
8. StK: Tobie Travaglia
9. Mel: Murphy Reid
10. Rich: Bo Allan
11. Rich: Jack Whitlock
12. WC: Xavier Lindsay
13. GWS: Jobe Shanahan (16&21 to Port for 13&29)
14. Freo: Joe Berry
15. GWS: Harry Oliver
16. Ess: Harry Armstrong (Port get choice of EFC or Mel F1 and extra. They''ll pay handsomely)
17. WB: Taj Hotton
18. NM: Luke Trainor
19. Syd: Matt Whitlock
20: Rich: Cooper Hynes
21. Port: Alex Dodson
22. Syd: Jesse Dattoli
23. Rich: Jonty Faull
Maybe. Just hearing a few lil question marks on his competitiveness as a kpf, and drive maybe. Plus he doesn't strike me as the type interstate clubs might be keen on. I dunno. Just a feel though.Looks quite good, but would be amazed if Harry Armstrong slips to 16, expect Melbourne with their 2nd pick 9 or Richmond at 10 or 11 to snap him up.
I don't like being stuck at the pointy end of the draft, with no absolute standouts, and then daylight. I like having more options of all kinds to improve the club, not fewer. It's no wonder everybody is neurotic without being conscious of it.I really think this entire draft period is a fascinating psycho emotional watch.

FOS, Draper worth more to us than 2 of Lindsay, Trainor, TravagliaReid and McKercher would go ahead of this draft pool, Walter would probably do so as well.
Where this draft shines is that after pick 10, it barely tapers off until maybe 30, which is why I was happy with 2 picks, and would like to see us generate at least this again if Smith is off the board.
Looks pretty good. Ashcroft still on the board. A chance at 38?Last day for thoughts/predictions/guesses before Twomey hugely influences things with his largely accurate info tomorrow:

So a great draft haul would be
Draper
(possible tall defender at 38)
The Camporeale Twins
Liam McMahon
And then possibly DGB as a train on player to sign before the start of the season
(covers some gaps on our list)
Great post. However, I would be stunned if the saints didnt take 2 pure mids with their picks. Two of Smillie, Langford, Reid and Lindsay would be a great haul for themLast day for thoughts/predictions/guesses before Twomey hugely influences things with his largely accurate info tomorrow:

How does Richmond knock back 2 & F1 (3-8) for 6 &11, u take it run for the hills & death ride themNorth offered 2 & F1 to Richmond for 6+11, which the Tiges knocked back.
Why the hell would they trade that to us for 3?
We’re not trading 3.

Maybe we should have kept 12 and 14 and draft two "safe" or injury prone players and delist them for nothing in 5 to 6 yearsYour probably right - with pick 3 it probably doesn’t matter who we take, stick them in the twos for a few years to develop them if they don’t fit in our current squad, if they don’t work out I’ll be happy if we trade them to St Kilda for a F4 pick
Of course I'd support him if he got picked by us but I believe there are other options for us at pick 3 and I worry he is a significant risk. Not denying his talent but I really want to nail this pick. Let's be honest Dow, SPS, O Brien, Stocker, Kemp (jury still out), Philip and Fisher haven't exactly demonstrated the surety of high - mid end draft picks. We really need to select a guaranteed star if we possibly can.My word… that’s quite the character assessment of FOS, Foucault.
I would happily take FOS, but will warmly welcome whoever the talent team think is the best player for us.
Just walking through some of your assessment of FOS:
Laid back lad - that can change in an AFL environment. Besides, a focused lad like Bailey Smith fell into the partying scene and mental health issues. So being ultra focused may not be all it is cracked up to be.
Can’t accumulate - perhaps he doesn’t need to? He seems to have a happy knack of getting the ball inside 50 and scoring goals. Both of these skills are things our list lacks from our midfielders. His 12 possession game for the Richmond VFL seemed pretty damaging.
Highlights are average - there is more to a game than highlights, but I am guessing you know that.
People only want him because everyone says he’s good - I just think he has great qualities to his game. He has an effective sidestep, he’s a solid mark, he kicks inside 50, he kicks goals. How that package stacks up against others is something for the list managers to consider
He is a row below the other contenders - I guess that is your opinion. It doesn’t seem to be the opinion of recruiters from across the league though
Anyway, I guess we will see what happens. I’d be delighted to have him onboard, but am very happy to support whoever we choose.
How does Richmond knock back 2 & F1 (3-8) for 6 &11, u take it run for the hills & death ride them
I meant objectively in terms of his statistics at under 18 level/seniors compared to the likes of Smith, Draper, Langford. Didn't word that well in my original post.“Objectively he is a rung below” is a ridiculous statement. That’s pure opinion, it’s the opposite of objective.
I also don’t understand the criticism of him being laid back. Unless there’s other sources it seems to be based on 1 interview he did with triple m, which is always going to have a less serious tone than AFL media or SEN.
Mind you even as a “laid back lad” he was co-captain of vic country with Lalor, captain of Xavier, and VC of Oakleigh (Jagga C). All the top contenders are/have been leaders at their respective teams
Seems strange. I imagine they think pick 6 is near equal to two if they know North have to take Tauru before then. If Tauru goes then they will get one of FOS, Draper, Smith or Langford at 6.How does Richmond knock back 2 & F1 (3-8) for 6 &11, u take it run for the hills & death ride them
6 and 11 was on the table from Richmond for Norths 2 AND F1.
I know Stamos is quoting News Ltd sources, but I'm inclined to agree with TJ's read of it, at which point you reject the deal if you're North.North offered 2 & F1 to Richmond for 6+11, which the Tiges knocked back.
Why the hell would they trade that to us for 3?
We’re not trading 3.
If you want to look at it like that, Cripps, Saad, and Williams (at their respective peaks) are who you're trying to replace, or to get a generational midfielder or small forward. This isn't the draft for small forwards.Regarding pick 3, there seems to be a big focus from supporters on choosing a player that best compliments our current group.
While this will be a consideration of Austin's, I think he will be more focused on the finding the next player to build the club around. He'll pick the guy he sees as the best long-term fit. He's not going to not pick a player, because we have a 30-year-old doing a similar role.
That's where I have FOS slightly behind the others. I reckon he compliments what we have really well but not sure he is the guy you build your club around.
I'm almost inclined to agree - at least in respect to the potential of Draper - but I gave a list of names earlier. Your list is a worst case scenario.FOS, Draper worth more to us than 2 of Lindsay, Trainor, Travaglia
Can’t put my hoof on it sheepy.Last word from me. (Top 10 without bids)
Rich - Lalor
Rich* - O’Sullivan

ADE- Draper
MEL - Reid
