Walsh and TDK 8 clearances each. Cripps 3.

In years gone by if we'd had only 3 clearances from Crippa we'd have been flogged.

Feels like a significant moment.

TDK has been absolutely central to the last 2 wins.

Tonight resolved something (in my mind anyway) if Pitto is fit there's no way we can play him. We'd be blunting Tom's influence - 18 clearances from 45 disposals in the past 2 weeks is epic.
He has realised that with Oppo putting time into cripps at clearance he can get onto it himself whether he wins or loses the tap. He is also a first option player not a hoof it on the boot ruck .
Think crippa still misses running behind pitto big frame - he started to adapt more as game went on ..

Pretty dumb from the AFL, should have been communicated to clubs earlier. In saying that, I doubt it will have made a difference. The inconsistent calls and non calls were ridiculous
I hope all clubs had a visit from umpires during their training sessions to show examples of the new htb rule as Collingwood did?

Be fair to him - go see how many times they kicked it to his advantage -- to get the most out of that third tall you need good ball use going inside 50.

Agreed. Our f50 entries were an out and out horror show all night. It looked like we were kicking to the other team. Hard work for Kennedy to even bring it to ground.

The interpretation change doesn't really matter when you've got such clear instances of contradictory decisions. It's just a different rule to apply unevenly to one team.

Marshall half way through the 3rd quarter was the most obvious holding the ball all night. Not paid.

Harry's mark. Gov so obviously held it was comical. The decisions / non decisions that cost goals can impact the result.

Frustrating first half, kept coughing it up and letting the downhill skier JHF do his thing. Made the most of kicking for goal, PA wasteful. Even contest.
Didn’t watch the second half for various reasons.
Really happy/relieved to see the outcome this morning.
Sets up our flag tilt.

Not sure Cincotta is much of a tagger TBH, Butters still had 23 disposals and 5 score involvements..

I’d like us to release Cincotta to use his IQ, pace and foot skills in our midfield, what we’re crying out for…
I think there is room for growth in Cincotta’s offensive game, but for now he’s learning the ropes on some of the AFL’s most dangerous mids. Great for his development.

Whilst Butters still had 23 touches, 17 were handballs.
Every single time he got the ball, Cinc was right there, pressuring and effecting the disposal. Rushed touches, mostly from the centre bounce tap work that went his way.

Yes but let’s not cook TDK…there will be games where we play 2 rucks to ease his workload (or rest him)

Ps. Literally no-one in the UK (other than the antipodeans) knows what a doona is.
And thongs as well.

When we first lived there my wife was amazed when her work were having a meeting to discuss their concerns about travellers at work. She said that lot of people in Australia had a traveller or two on the way home. People were gasping, turns out travellers over there refer to gypseys and the prospect of them setting up camp in the back of their work.

His move onto Touk and now Butters has been a revelation but let’s not forget he had a couple of great games prior playing on very tough forwards in Pickett and I forget the week before.

He really has a great defensive discipline and just goes hard all game.

Was so happy for him to kick his goal.

Cincotta match ups recently-
Bobby Hill ✅
Kozzie Pickett ✅
Touk Miller ✅
Zac Butters ✅

Thank Christ Essendon doesn’t have a Sudanese defender. Walshy might kick to one of our blokes instead
Jordan Ridley is a great interceptor though, need Williams or Kennedy to occupy him and prevent him from impacting Charlie & Harry’s contests.

Fog & Williams are great pressure forwards. Quick.

Williams made his opponent accountable, took him back to the square to give the big boys less opponents in the air…still got rewarded with 3 goals…perfect general forwards game

Great start to the weekend.

Let’s hope pies and bombers lose.

I think both will which sets up a huge game next week.

GC will burst the * bubble and we will get an opportunity to create even more doubt & pain on them !

Williams as a forward has helped us be 5-6 goal better team across 2 weeks by not only kicking goals but also not giving away free’s & goals as a defender.

I recommend everyone do the Adelaide trip at sometime. Even on a Thursday it’s an awesome experience. I thought our supporters could be bad, they are the most feral I’ve seen and made the win even more enjoyable.

Cripps last quarter was incredible. We don’t often see him completely take over a game in the last quarter so it was great to watch.
TDK brilliant again
Cinc was fantastic. I think you have to see Butters live to appreciate how good he is and how well he moves through traffic. A very hard player to tag and he done it brilliantly. A lot of Butters touches also seemed to be before Cincotta got onto him from centre stoppages too. Completely nullified him once he was on him.

The way they have played in these last two wins has been extremely exciting for our season

He played well, but is no Cameron Ling…

Think he’d be more beneficial to be allowed to attack, his IQ, speed and foot skills are attributes our midfield need…
See, I don't think Cincotta actually reads the play all that well. You don't get picked up as a mature supplementary pick with that athletic profile if there isn't a downside; he's got excellent straight line pace, runs out games pretty well, doesn't play too tall or small, is very strong one on one. Once he has the ball he's okay, not exceptional as far as IQ goes; the benefit he provides is that he's athletic enough to find some space and mature enough to be good at most things. What you're seeing now is pretty close to his ceiling, because he's genuinely in his prime.

Having said all that - it sounds like I'm kicking him - why tagging is the correct choice is that all he needs to do as a tagger is play on a single opponent and get their ball before they do. Due to 6-6-6 he can't attend centre bounce too often - it'd impinge upon our own setups - but outside that he wore Butters like a glove and halved his influence. He's surrounded by Cripps, Walsh, Newman, both Hollands; he doesn't need to be exceptional at finding a teammate, just the next link in a chain.

And you get his attributes as a tagger. He's following the opp. best player around all day; unless they're actively avoiding the ball, he's going to get the pill.
