Interesting... just did some research and if Charlie wins his third Coleman on the bounce, he'll be the first to do it since Gary Ablett Sr. And just for a daily double, It'll be the first time since 1953 that a club has had 4 Coleman medals awarded to it's players Not since the great John Coleman.
Charlie will be the 7th player to win 3 Coleman medals in a row. If he wins next year as well... he'll be the third player to win 4 in a row... joining Dick Lee, one win behind John Coleman.
Charlie will need a couple of big hauls of 6+ at some stage this year if he’s to win another Coleman - but I’m strangely ambivalent to individual player awards these days - kind of like our years of the late 70’s and early 80’s where we didn’t need Coleman’s and Brownlow’s - just premierships and the occasional Norm (although don’t get me started on the 1982 Norm ).
