MILESTONE: Jack Martin 150 AFL Games

Wouldn’t mind getting the swans first final their form looks worse than ours
It's a close comp, every team has had a poor patch this year, there's still time to turn it around.

100% i think before last weeks games over the 5 week stretch. Brisbane were 5-0 hawks 4-1 and everyone else was 2 losses minimum. If you’re only a tad off you’ll get done. It’s what makes the game so good

I agree with comments but I don’t see it as a bad thing.

The core of our list is very very good. If we can fix some issues and add some depth at years end it could really set up our next 5 years and more

It’s a big off season for us

That’s how I see it
It's just a dissappointing thing. You put the injury prone players fit and on the field, we have a team good enough to challenge for a flag. Take them out, we don't.

The top end of our list is pretty good. The top end of our senior side is outstanding. The bottom end of our senior team isn't really up to it and is carried by the top end quite a bit. Which is good enough to put us in contention to beat most sides. But not good enough to win our way through an entire season and finish well for finals.

Cleaning out the injury prone players. It means we need to recruit some pretty good mature players to be a contender next season.

Our off season is make or break.

Replace injury prone player. Fix the holes in our list which is in the middle, CHB and 2 or 3 forwards.

Could be a really good thing, depends who we get.

Pies will pretty much be at full strength only missing Mitchell (who lets face it shouldn't be in there best 22) Mihochek whose form was below average before he was injured & McCreery who may be available anyway and always seems to play well against us.
As others have suggested we turn up with a shit attitude we lose this game whether its Dingleburys 400th game or 401st game.

Do goey will be a liability if he plays

What is the mistake in your opinion, delisting them or the fact that they are still on the list? In my opinion we can't afford to keep having list spots taken up by players who can't stay on the park. They have to go and unfortunately, none of them have any trade value.

People are frustrated that some cannot get on the park, but maybe we should be looking elsewhere!

Just to detail a bit further, Marchbank & S Durban delisted, Young traded = Weitering only!!!
That leaves us with no other KP defenders and I’m positive we won’t find a ready made. 100% positive.
Match winners like Martin delisted is pure craziness, especially keeping others on the list instead. We cannot afford such a move but that’s my opinion.

The question I want answered is, why have individualised programs not worked this year and why we are worse than last year?

My worry as always is our pace and their pace. They move so much quicker than we do around the midfield. In the past it's also been their rebounding and transition which has killed us. I don't think we will win. We will have to smash them in contested ball and have our tall forwards get off the chain.

I think we will get out run, exposed for pace and run all over as has been the case for most of the last 2 and a half seasons.
Hoping that is not the case and we find our own way to win. Season is well and truly on the line.

Surprised by Martin, surely we offer him a year on a suitable contract? Point of difference on our list if he can get fit.

I'd personally be clearing out Cunners, Marchbank and Durdin, while taking a punt on Martin. Hopefully Moir can develop into that player but looks 1-2 years away and hasn't displayed any of Martin's tenacity or aggression to date.
Martin is made of glass. We can't keep players on the list that are always injured

Couldn’t disagree more

Martin is talented BUT can’t get on the park and is getting worse. Can now barely train. He’s also nearly 30
Marchbank the same

Time takes its toll and they rarely if ever get better.

This isn’t about ability, it’s about availability and this has been happening for years and we have tried everything. Different programs, specialists etc. Some people’s bodies just can’t stand up

YES, we need to replace them and it won’t be easy but need to try and move forward.

IMO otherwise we are going backwards

As I always say, fair enough. We won’t all agree,
If we make such moves, I will be curious to see how we move forward with replacements and how we manage the list changes, especially as everyone is telling us we are in the ‘premiership’ window.

It's a close comp, every team has had a poor patch this year, there's still time to turn it around.

There have been numerous examples but 2002 is a perfect one where pies went into finals in poor form, and minus bucks for an away final in port, and they won.

Just getting there is half the battle, then people forget the form fluctuations the year of you go well in the finals.

Dogs in 2021 lost their last 3 games to cost themselves top 4 then made a GF from 4th. Be many other examples too.

Pace is very much a weakness

That’s why we need to lock it down, win contested ball and control pace of play.

Something we did very end of last season.

It reminds me of 1993, when only 3.5 wins separated 1st to 12th in a 15 team comp.

Jack Martin is not a match winner, very talented player but how many times has he been a game changer.

Talented injury riddled player, that is unlikely to change at his age, we need to get some fit bodies onto the list.
We need to get to the draft and find some more talent, right now not alot of free agents likely, Bailey Smith is the type of player we need, but likely to go to Geelong.
