Coaches get too much credit for success and too much blame for failure.
It's an interesting discussion.

We often want to blame the players but the argument becomes, especially the longer term coaches, that the coaches picked the player.

what is the line? To me, it's when a coach is unable to rotate through a list, allowing it to become predictable

We wanted Dew, but didn't want to move Burns down a rung.
What a terrible mistake in hindsight.

Just be like our leadership group... everyone gets the title they want lol.

The main point of contention with our list mathematics right now is if Burgess is contracted for 2025. If he's not, we have 5 list spots, if he is we have 4. (Assuming everyone else uncontracted is also being delisted)

We'd have a better idea if the club released their delisting decisions.

I'll check my spreadsheet later this evening to work out the permutations needed to get ANB/Cumming/Peatling (if it happens) and 3 draft picks. The Keane upgrade may need to happen, but we could still be paying out a contracted player.
Burgess needs to go, contracted or not.

It's easy to make six spaces on the main list.

Cut Elliot Himmelberg, Rory Sloane, Chris Burgess, Lachlan Gollant and Ned McHenry and move someone contracted for 2025 (like Brodie Smith) to the rookie list.

That's three trades, two draft picks and Welsh.
Sloane
Burgess
Parnell
Strachan
Smith

Should all go, even if means paying them out.

McHenry & Gollant may attract interest from another club.

If Himmelberg is going, then I think we need Burgess as back-up
Better off getting games into T Murray imo... or try one of our backmen up forward.

Burgess is not AFL standard.
