It's not just about this week. Got to get someone in who can play the next 3 games. Can't be chopping and changing such an important position on the ground as it impacts sic/scrim/etc - an area where alot of our attack comes from. Serong might be better against Port - But bringing Easy in, and getting him settled is more important for the rest of the season.

Sucks for Serong, though.

Serong is a 3rd defender. He will get monstered most weeks by key forwards at AFL level. He has been quite fumbly at AFL level and finals is a step up. Phillips did nothing wrong last time he played and is a good match up for either Dixon or Ratugolea. Roll the dice with Weddle as a permanent key defender and bring in another midfielder - classic Hok Ball!

Frosty a huge loss he had been very solid this year.
I am hurting for Frosty, but we are very good at protecting the back six(7).

Big loss, but if our gameplan continues to stack up Phillips will be fine.

Got to remember he really only made way from the team because the captain came back. He had a very very good debut, and the coaches told him as much.

This makes the most sense logically. Phillips is essentially the same piece as Frosty albeit a little slower. Serong would have to change the whole setup as he simply isn’t big enough to take the gorillas.
As for others worried about the Cats- Cameron is more of a flanker than a true key foward. Very rarely takes contested marks, it’s essentially GWS with Hogan and Cadman the worry.

The real challenge will be stopping Hogan/Cameron if we did make a GF.....our planning should probably have that in mind and give the replacement (and team) time to adjust.
Whilst I understand where you're coming from, thinking ahead of the next game is way too dangerous. Literally one week at a time. You can do this kind of planning during the week.

Devastating blow, you have to feel for Frosty as a person. He's had a career best year, and after essentially an entire career of playing for bottom 6 sides we are poised to potentially make a Preliminary, and who knows what happens from there. He has earned the right to play for some meaningful success.

Next year we have Barrass and Battle joining and there is a chance his spot in the side is in jeopardy.
