Caller on SEN says from a reliable source: Noah Balta considering a shock move with huge offer from North Melbourne..
I’ve also heard this from an unreliable source.
Make of that what you will…

I actually haven’t heard this at all but that’s how easy it is to make shit up.
Anyway, balta would be good.

Good comparison is the *** trade where pick 2 left West Coast:

WEST COAST
Trade out:
Junior Rioli, picks No.2, 40
Trade in: Picks No.8, 12, 2023 second-round pick (tied to Port Adelaide), 2023 third-round pick (tied to Port Adelaide)

The way I see it:
8 + 12 = Pick 2
Rioli + 40 = '23 second rounder + '23 third rounder

We'd be getting more than West Coast did. I would definitely take 6 + 10 for pick 2.
In this draft with it being so midfield heavy at the top I would as well.

Those callers on SEN. One yesterday said we were 0% to get Parker in.

I like Balta but we'd be mad to do this the season he is a free agent. Richmond would likley get paid more too.

I guess it depends on what we’d have to give up this year but waiting a year probably makes

We could do 2/22 for Balta 6/10

A good deal this year vs a deal that could be better or worse next year, taking into account specific players in this draft they might have an eye on. If it's not just a bs rumour, there's reasons they might sign on the dotted line.

As for us trading in a player we could potentially get for free next year... Well if he wants to come to us NOW when we're the only suitors (probably because there's a trade cost)... Do we really want to risk other free agency bidders? Or do we want a known quality that will improve us ASAP, and potentially help us improve enough next year that other players become interested in coming across (for reasons other than their retirement fund).

Couldn't we still have to trade next year for Balta if Tigers match the contract or is he not in the top 5% of contracts or whatever it is making him unrestricted?
they wont match next year they will get band 1 compo which will be pick 2 assuming they stay last which they will

That could be true for all we know.

Absolutely could be, I just thought it was interesting it never made its way to this thread.

I have not really heard any other club apart from us being mentioned much in the Luke Parker discussion, surely this is not a bad thing.
