You can't judge that from now.... 7 mths away, all depends on the success of the trade and draft period and then a solid pre season

No chance.In all seriousness…
There would have been a melt down here if we would have picked a 168cm midget ahead of Duursma last draft night.
Who else thinks Goater & George are not going to make it ?
Wish l had a magic wand......but l get Perez & Hayden vibes. Got the talent, undoubtedly, but major injuries will cruel their careers
If we both have no idea what will happen in 4 years time i would rather be positive than sulking about it all the time.
I’ve got high hopes for Goater still . I’m only concerned that history tells us that most players who suffer this horrible injury come back a bit slower in pace ….Who else thinks Goater & George are not going to make it ?

Yesterday as soon as a Hawthorn player looked like taking the ball on the backline (ie before they marked or picked it up) the other Hawthorn backs were taking off and running into space and the forwards were starting to move to create options and holes for players.I liked Watson but if Duursma was playing for the Hawks, with their style, he would be kicking a lot of goals.
Only to the nuffies who hadn’t seen him playIn all seriousness…

Maybe? It is paramount that we sign more than handy players for at least another season or 2 to give hope to the players and supporters.Maybe we have a few handy players on their way here next year Regardless i am still feeling positive on our future.
Agree on Lyons, Macrae and Morrison but not Daniels. One of our biggest issues is lack of pace in defence. Small forwards have destroyed us all year (including yesterday). Daniels is an elite kick but slow and a poor defender. As an outsider these guys make sense to me:
Classy players at top clubs who have been surpassed by younger guys. You aren't going to get blokes who are still best 22 in top 8 sides.
No non-finalist will, that's just how it is in AFL world right now.
However, for next to nothing, you could probably get:
Jarryd Lyons - OOC - just turned 32 and amassing huge VFL numbers. Hard as a cats head, great trainer, would protect your kids.
Jack Macrae - 29, hard as a cats head, still racking them up at AFL / VFL when not played in a forward pocket. Will protect your kids and still get 30 a week.
Both these guys will provide leadership, hardness, set standards and most importantly teach your draftees.
Caleb Daniel - still has a future at AL level as a back-pocket defender. Still an elite kick, frees Fisher to go forward and Sheezel can stay in the middle.
If we (Hawthorn) get our 3 targets (Battle, Barrass and Gruzewski), then you'd think Serong, Morrison, Husthwaite, Mitchell and Maginness would be worth having a chat to.
All are fine, developing players, and all would do a job for you. It's getting them though.
I understand Morrison has spoken to Clarkson already.
Macrae, Lyons, Daniel and Morrison add strength experience hardness and professionalism - and they are realistic targets.
You guys, simply on a survival level, can't afford another 2 seasons like the last 5.
Good luck.
The fwds coach, at a minimum, needs the boot and good riddance.Another thing to note is the stability of the coaching staff and off field.... first time in a long time that we don't need to bring anyone in in the off season I wouldn't have thought. That type of stability is crucial

I have 5 years of history on my side and a couple of consecutive 100+ point beltings to back it up...You can't judge that from now.... 7 mths away, all depends on the success of the trade and draft period and then a solid pre season

I don't give a **** who it is...That's Xavier Clarke not sure he is going anywhere! Think Patch if anyone is the most susceptible as the only one Clarko not brought in

The buck stops with him. It’s why the head of a company gets the arse when things nosedive.
I don't give a **** who it is...
It is the same shit every week. Mids win clearance, look for i50 kick, forwards all stationary or clustered together, getting in each other's way. Our fwd play is a joke.

We have almost no defensive pressure from Curtis, Duursma, RHJ or Zuhaar.
Lol at us 2 years ago wondering if Cam has the motor to play through the middle.
One or both of Phillips and Simpkin need to become a manic pressure forward because our transition defense is laughable.
Once the oppo intercepts, a score is coming.

I didnt think it was that hard to understand Good post New-RooYou said it yourself. He isn't the head of the company! He reports into Viney.... so again he doesn't have sole autonomy. Will, Clayton and others will do the ground work, and report into Rawlings. Then Rawlings will go into Viney and Clarko and to a lesser extent assistants and line coaches.
There will be multiple views and opinions, not one guy sitting in an office with an approve button!
