If Battle goes (not that I'm advocating it but if he decides to leave) then..

Get Howes from Melbourne who plays well week in and out at Casey (and Goodwin won't play him) for a 2nd Rd pick and will be a player putting maximum pressure on Bonner, Byrnes, Stocker if not getting a game straight off etc.

Prise Callaghan out of GWS with the Battle compensation pick

If nothing else their fathers will love going to the footy together!

Max is such a posing figure its not his fault the team constantly bomb it on his head, but if he was a constantly moving or leading it would bring others into the game. I have absolutely no doubt we as a team function much better when he is not playing.

You need to go back and closely look at how much movement there was in our forward 50 last night. Compared to when Max was playing its night and day. Players are running to create space for each other because they know they will be rewarded. No one was stationary standing like a light post with their hand in the air. The Essendon defence simply couldnt cover all the leads, our mobility and the way we looked for different targets was sublime.

The work rate of Sharman and Caminiti for talls was exceptional. There was parts to the game where Cooper was involved across the HB line and then sprinted to the forward zone to be a leading target. Max is meant to be a strong runner but we never see it, he simply doesnt work hard enough particularly when things dont go his way.

It's an area Max needs to work on for sure. I'm not disagreeing with what your saying to be honest, its all true.

But personally I think its less to do with the forwards work rate and more to do with the available space they have to work in now that our system is facilitating it. For most of the season, Sharman, Members, Hammer etc. have also all struggled.

If Max was playing last night I've not doubt he would have bobbed up in space too.

At this point, I'd much prefer to keep Jones than bring in Shiel. 29 is not too far gone, as Jones has shown on field the past fortnight. If he stays fit for the rest of the year, I'd wait till end of trade/draft and give him one year if he fills a need
I don't like the idea of shiel at all

There was a play on the second where Sharman looped behind Membrey for a mark on the boundary, he kicked the goal.
That would not, nor does, not happen with King.
King needs another string to his bow...Daniher has been reinvented since going up the ground. King needs to do the same.

Sheil actually s.hits me. He oils up like he is in a porno, just to show his guns.
The guy is the epitome of looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.
Parker was spot on about Sheil.

One I hate most is cadwell. Like genuine hate. The guys absolute campaigner.

Can’t let King go

If he causes a vortex of defenders where he goes then use him to suck half of them in leads up the ground to free up his marking and provide get out options

Get him moving and running until we’ve completely unsettled the defence and let Hammer and Coops get to work

He just needs to accept not being the focal point of the defence

This place is wild.

The same people that are upset at the idea of paying Max $1m a year want us to pay Battle $950k+ a year

We play against two genuine bottom 6 sides and put on a score and people want us to trade Max because somehow Max is the reason the mids can't kick accurately and that we generally get absolutely reamed out of the middle

One earns their money and one is paid on potential. Battle also wouldn't have been paid well up until now. If Battle has taken $350k a year up until now needing to reap coin from his one big contract it looks a lot more fair. Max has been well paid all along.

King is either ridiculous unders or overs depending on how he plays over the next 5 years.

It's probably coincidence rather than anything but we look better without King. Hammer plays with real energy and presence. Maybe we should send King to CHB if Josh goes.
I'm firmly in the camp of having him higher up the ground playing between the arcs. Another 2 metre tall player presenting a mobile option that can boot it 60+ metres would worry a lot of other clubs. I'd like to see what he looks like freed up. He may made need to work on his endurance a bit over the summer though, as he often looks gassed when moving 20m from the goal square 😆

No we don't need to waste a 2nd rounder on a player we have ample of, 1cm taller than Hastie.

If someone whom has never watched the game before saw both King and Battle play, then purely on output alone it could be argued fairly reasonably that Battle is worth more than King.
The trade talk is mostly a bit of fun, but we would get value for him, and it would help get us some mids that can kick accurately and get us less reamed from out of the middle.
Obviously that's not going to happen though.
I would like to see King develop his game more. It's going to be an off season of reckoning for him. If the club is hell bent at throwing him a million + per year, then he's going to have to start warranting it, and meet expectations.
There won't be any more excuses.

We destroyed a few draft picks under GT's watch too, that weren't all winners like Riewoldt, Goddard, Dal Santo and Fisher.

We wasted a couple of top 10 picks on the Clarke brothers due to Xavier being injury prone and Raph being a wasted talent.

How corrupt was the whole Fergus Watts thing?
We did great in the "superdraft" but crap most of the time.

Shows the mentality of Thomas for wanting to tank, 99% of supporters just want to win.

We have young players every week.
Do we give them the mindset that Essendon can beat us at will, or do they learn that Essendon are our little bitches who will wither just from the steely gaze of Cooper Sharman?
Do they learn that we can beat anyone?

Let's let Jye answer that himself

Reuniting the childhood mates, what’s not to like!? Do believe Howes was a Saints fan growing up too. He looks a likely type and don’t get me started on Callaghan, star written all over him the lad
