If it ends up being 19, we move on. It's probably around the mark.

The appeal of losing Battle has always been getting overs for him. Pick 8 is definitely overs.

Battle is a really solid player but he is not a great one-v-one defender. Pick 8 would be amazing for him. But like you I don't see it happening, and realistically pick 19 is probably just slight unders.
Battle was close to our best player this year. Takes years to build chemistry in the backline. He frees up Wilkie and will be a big loss.

Pretty unlikely pick 19 ends up being better than Battle, and if they are it won't be any time soon.

So apparently the AFL delivers the news to each club via a zoom meeting. Are they afraid Bassat is going to throw hands at the outcome?
Well Hawthorn and the agent need to lodge the paperwork. So you would imagine it’s a matter of convenience and not a conspiracy 😂

Surely you had a few cans before creating the account. I know I did 😂
I like that he stuck with it.
My mates phone lit up the other day with an incoming call from a “Mock”.
It was his brother Mick.

Will need them when Jones inevitably gets injured and is delisted after 2025.

We look to be going all in on FA next year, Callahan, LDU, Brayshaw, Alir all dangled big $$$ next year, use the futures for Fiorini and Atkins this year

This would give us experience of Steele, Jones, McLobster, Atkins

Mid Aged: Clark, Fiorini, Ronnie

Youngish: Dow, Henry, Windy Pou, Chito (I live in hope), Stocker (tagger)

Developing: 7 & 8, Wilson, Pou, Hotton (if still there)

I think you have hit on a pretty decent strategy.

You guys and your demographics.
Hunter is a year older than Paddy and Liam. Byrnes is younger than both.

Can you imagine a physical happening?
"Just wait right there gents, I need to have this doc vetted by several others..."
*moments pass, morning turns into early afternoon
"St Kilda gets band 2, Hawks get-"
*security call here, crashes are heard.

Day of trading is suspended as "deaf person abuses able bodied people just doing their job" according to Purple on TW radio at 5 to 7pm, we're banned from further trading.

Given there'll be several lawyers around in various instances, I'm sure we could overturn anything with the sheer amount of witnesses to "no malice on our end, you all saw how they disparaged us that this was obviously self defense and I needed to cave his face in, break that persons arm, and demolish a couple tables over the others...".

We then get a mini draft as AFL refuse to attend the court proceedings to default win, and tuck tail to glare menacingly later as live on draft night you have several people with slings, black eyes, bruises and whatnot and camera pans to our table high fiving each other and giggling.

I'd pay money to attend such an event. Alas, digital is just faster and more clean. Shucks.

This coming from a bloke with 265 father sons that have gone through his club, spare me Bevo!

Regarding the Battle compo, any extra first round pick this year is elite, so we should all be happy already.

I also note that Max King’s height has been updated to 206cm, not sure why it took so long for his correct height to be published.

That’s all well and good, but I don’t see why he made such a big deal of this at the B&F. It’s a bad look for the club IMO. By all means, go for your life to the head honchos at the AFL behind closed doors. The father/son is a good part of the game and it completely comes down to luck anyway. If we get another flag I don’t want it come from handouts anyway. I want the club to do it as the St.Kilda Football club, with all the challenges it faces and has done for years.
This combined with the Battle snub has been a bad week for the club, I’m not sure what happened there but we could have said nothing and he either
a) doesn’t show up anyway
b) does turn up and it’s frosty - what’s the worst that could have happened?
Also a bad look that it seems we categorically told him not to come.
Really who cares , it his view and I'm sure it was supported by everyone that was there.

I think the club has shown strength. I'm glad we have a prez with a set of balls. Everyone knows the draft is a compromised mess. Usually everyone just kisses the AFL's arse out of fear.

As for Battle... I believe there's a reason behind them not wanting him there.

As an aside... did you watch Sam Mitchell's press conference after their finals loss? Imagine wanting to go and play for that tosser. Have at it Josh

Here is a left field idea. I take no offence.

What about Tim Membrey filling in the Josh Battle role as Defender?

For next year.

Do you think he has the strength? The speed and agility?

Thrown into defence at the end of quarters in ‘23, and ‘24 and took a few marks while at it.

Yes and I think I might go back to being a watcher 😀
never make an acc on a mobile phone

it's easy to not complain when the Govt gives you 40 mill in cash to pump the bottom line
it's easy to not complain when you get the #1 pick for a pkt of chips
it's easy to not complain when you get father/son after father/son for a pkt of chips

**** me, the hypocrisy

Could well do it but really we need to move on , the guy is 31 next year and he has been tremendous and for him to have such a long career shows how good he was.
I'd rather have Hammer or Schoemaker given the role.

Beveridge seems to be saying that Bassett is right but is trying to set themselves up as being too noble/good/righteous to complain so they don't suffer the pile on.

I'm glad our pres did it, just going with the flow as we have for the last fifteen years hasnt got us anywhere.
