Could well be SSP if he outshines others - no prohibition on picking up someone not on our train-on list.Have no doubt that he's 'on trial' with the club for possible mid season draft pick up / rookie spot next year.

You can add Evans to that listYep we are managing expectations and regulations. There’s quite a few that are on the cusp of the AFL list.
Durdin
Carroll
DGB
Phillips
White
McMahon
Frank the tank is the prospective Owies replacement. Good overheard, good goal sense and works hard to win the ball or lock it in the forward line. Still, passed over by both Geelong and Port even though he played more games than not last year suggests not a lot of upside. You can add Evans to that list
Really to what part? Not being defensive, just want to know.
The fact he scored around half a goal a game as a small forward in a top 4 side. Doesn't scream out what we are looking for to me.Really to what part? Not being defensive, just want to know.
why does he even get a look in!!Really to what part? Not being defensive, just want to know.
Port are trialling a kid who played with Cheltenham to replace him.The fact he scored around half a goal a game as a small forward in a top 4 side. Doesn't scream out what we are looking for to me.
Think EP did the same last season, pre-season training with Box Hill = given a shot as SSP with Hawthorn with the dual training.I havent given up hope. Probably needs to be on our vfl list to be able to train with us given our spp spots are taken. If he out performs the others you'd think he's still a shot.
If we sign Durdin or DGB and have Phillips on our vfl list, our vfl backline is going to be way to tall. Not good for anyone's development or the team.
Worth taking a look at the training footage, because then you'll notice that Hewett is absolutely flying right now, and Jagga's defensive output will not be up to scratch by round 1.If he's fit, I expect Jagga to play starting midfield in Round 1 and rightly so. He offers a skillset we lack. The ability to get out the front of stoppage with agility and burst. It will significantly assist our forwards the opportunity to utilise the corridor.
It may only be for 10 minutes per quarter but it will be worthwhile.
As for Hewett, he's a great warrior but I hope his role becomes more redundant. The inclusion of Smith and a fit Cerra will give us more defensive accountability around stoppages. Inside chase pressure and willingness to work defensively.
I'd like to see Lord play a larger role. Great hands below his knees and more penetration in his kicking than Hewett.
Despite talk of changing up our midfield mix, I wouldn't be surprised if we roll with a pretty predictable on-ball group round 1. The big 4 (Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Hewett) getting the majority of the minutes plus Jagga and E.Hollands rotating through.Worth taking a look at the training footage, because then you'll notice that Hewett is absolutely flying right now, and Jagga's defensive output will not be up to scratch by round 1.
Both should be in the 22/23 if fit.
Good to hear George is doing well.Worth taking a look at the training footage, because then you'll notice that Hewett is absolutely flying right now, and Jagga's defensive output will not be up to scratch by round 1.

What's this based on? Has he given an interview?Phillips sure doesnt sound like hes given up on that SPP spot.
Yep. HeraldsunWhat's this based on? Has he given an interview?
ok - what happened to two train on players per available spots remaining?Yep we are managing expectations and regulations. There’s quite a few that are on the cusp of the AFL list.

Midfield depth is important, so that when our A team rests - the B team is not so far behind in levelDespite talk of changing up our midfield mix, I wouldn't be surprised if we roll with a pretty predictable on-ball group round 1. The big 4 (Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Hewett) getting the majority of the minutes plus Jagga and E.Hollands rotating through.
Not saying it's a bad thing. A fit Cerra and Walsh in itself massively improves our midfield, plus Jagga's minutes will grow as the year goes on. Sometimes at this time of year we get creative when the answer is actually pretty simple and right in front of us.
That's why I said managing expectations and regulations ... Phillips and Evans have signed with the VFL team and White is still VFL listed. And why Sellwood is not training at all.ok - what happened to two train on players per available spots remaining?
He's a footballer first and foremost. Finds the ball at will and great reader of the play. Will play round one if fit.Given he was the leading possession winner in the VFL & it was wet, I can’t see him having any issue slotting straight in. He had 32,27,24, will be ready to go round 1, be lightly framed isn’t a concern
