Not sure any side has a go to option to cover Darcy with any confidence, the kid is going to be a jet

Personally, I wouldn't allow Young to be taken back to the goal square and Weitering needs to really drive handover so he is playing on the deepest tall forward, whether that's Darcy or Naughton

Both will need one of our 3rd talls to peel off to help in the marking contests

Midfield pressure will be critical

Never mind…found this….

Carlton has added Will White to its AFL list for the 2025 season, a small forward who had a strong first season in the VFL, playing all 18 matches and finishing third in the club's best and fairest award

That’s ok.
At least when he walks the plank he won’t have any regrets and be safe in the knowledge that he did it his way until the bitter end.
Just brutal for supporters to see a 10 year rebuild amount to nothing …
Listening to him talk about “contest and pressure” to the players after the game made me want to smash my head against a wall. Has no ****ing clue how much the game has changed.

Please hire people with some intellect. Please.

This won’t happen but my idea to improve our forward entries is to play Saady up the ground in the high half forward role.

He’s a good kick and he’s good at those short kicks and as well as the longer kicks but he also provides some explosiveness and speed.

Bring Boyd in and let him be that Newman role with his kicking skills and entries outside of defensive 50.

We need Vossy to put his ego aside and try something different.
Adam Saad couldn’t run out of sight on a dark night. His endurance is dreadful. High half forward would see him cooked sitting on the bench by 1/4 time.

17 or 18 and a goal and a mountain of running and at high speed and great efficiency using the ball across the forward half last night

Sam Darcy is a hell of a player rightly being praised for his around the ground marking and marking on a lead in the forward line.

But guess what? Harry McKay can play exactly the same role and has done in the past.

Two instances stood out for me last night where the doggies player (Dale) runs to about 80m t and puts a lowish pass about 30m out that Darcy has to run at and mark at highest point. I think Libba did exactly the same around the same time .

Why are we holding him inside 50 and then bombing it on his head?

That’s COACHING!!!

Bailey Dale is one of the best kicks n the AFL - we don’t have that quality.
Libba is a left footer & crafty - also something that we need. Cez is about the only decent kick in our midfield.

Our forward line has been diabolical for 10yrs with highly recommended line-coaches such as Teague, Hansen & Russell unable to make it function.

If we bring the pressure of Thursday's game to next Friday we will limit the opportunities for Darcy. We will also create opportunities to score enough times to get the chocolates. I would like TDK to be able to have a greater influence in our D50 to assist in dealing with Darcy and Naughton.

What we have to be better at is ball use, transition from defence to attack, centre-forward connectivity and accurate goal kicking. These are things that have been issues for a long time now (why?). They're limiting our opportunities to score and it feels like we always have a hand tied behind our back because of them.

Harry in is a no brainer but we need to see his best. I would leave JSOS forward and move Kempy back. Boyd in as well as White. These three inclusions make us faster. I would drop Haynes (needs to find his best in the twos), Lord (needs to play a full game in the twos) and Fogarty (has to start contributing on the scoreboard). This still leaves quite few who are lucky to remain.

Need to win this one. The players need it and so do we.

God almighty theres a lot of rubbish getting posted atm. 1 awful game from Harry and it's like he's up for war crimes.
It’s the reoccurring issues in his game that still haven’t been fixed. We’re 10yrs in now
• Contesting (impose himself) / 1-hand marking attempts
• Kicking for goal
• Lack of imposing presence

There’s a lot of comparison with the brothers & their footballing. Getting paid way overs for output.

Darcy is an elite field kick. He is a far more complete footballer than McKay.

You say we don’t have anyone who can deliver like Dale but he didn’t land it in a rubbish bin, he put it in a general area. Same as Libba.

These were not extraordinary kicks they were smart kicks any half decent ammo player could have executed.

Cerra was that. Boyd was in 2023 the highest rated kick in the comp exiting back 50. We killed that off last year nicely... Think it's just wrong that we don't have the talent to kick it well enough.
"Boyd, you're a good kick out of defence. Play lockdown."
