His marking seems to have dropped off this year but generally over his career he has been rated above average for marks and above average and even elite for a couple of years as far as contested marks. He is rated elite for hitouts and hitouts to advantage. You are right as far as skills go. His kicking has always been 50/50. Just seems to be having a poor year this year.I’m all for looking at another ruck option, but O’Brien’s not the answer for mine. All he’s good at is accumulating hitouts. His skills are poor even for a ruck and he can’t hold a mark - and doesn’t kick goals. And will be 29 in two months - and would need to be traded for.
Is that just his current form though, or has he always played like that.
28-29 doesn't bother me. Goldy's 35. We only need two or three years from a 29 year old. Surely Bryan and Draper are up and about by then.
I think he has put on 14kg's since drafted - I wouldn't have thought that is a huge amount over 5 or so years. Visentini moves well for a young big guy, looking forward to seeing him develop.

I thought he was getting to the peak of his powers a couple of years ago too. Maybe he has already peaked, but I reckon if we put it to him that he could rediscover his best form he's every chance of being no. 1. But at worst that there's also a chance he could be part of a formidable duo, he might be interested.I thought he was going to be top 3 rucks in the comp a few years ago - 100% having a down year. 29’s just a bit of a weird age imo - is he old enough to accept not being no.1?
Once again one of our better players but he really is still the same Nick Bryan from last year and the year before.
Yes he can get 40 plus hit outs . Yes he has decent skills and can win a bit of footy around the ground .
The problem is he continually gets run off the line our moved under the footy in marking contests . He is worse than Peter Wright level as far as marking goes.
Then you get to the physical presence . He is not soft as he will have a crack in the ruck contests all day and never back down but it just seems it is not in his nature to put any physical body pressure on . How does a 200cm 100kg bloke who is not bog slow not find a way to bump into a few blokes and use his size outside the ruck contest ?
Also shows limited ability to play any consistent type role forward if needed because his marking is so hit and miss.
I think we need to see him in a few more AFL games but he is dead set flatlined this year. Goldy dominated him in the pre season match sim and there is not one area of his game that has improved. Certainly very good at VFL level but where is the next level ?
He will ask for a trade and we will find out if Scott rates him at all. They should hold him to his last year as Sam has never completed a full season and Goldy is at the end but if they have put a line through him then I guess they will trade him out and look at someone else.
Vigo is a three year rookie prospect. He is just too light now but he does attack the marking contest with more vigor.Does Vigo have the aggression? If they rate Vigo then I reckon Bryan gets traded.
As he matures he will become more physical. I suspect we will rue the day we let him go.Once again one of our better players but he really is still the same Nick Bryan from last year and the year before.

like the sound of this.Vigo is a three year rookie prospect. He is just too light now but he does attack the marking contest with more vigor.
Vigo is more of a forward / ruck I think . He has some good forward craft as far as leading patterns and play and can do okay in the ruck.
You would hope so but I wonder if he has it in him . He is 200cm and 100kg and he does not use it and I am not talking Mumford thuggery. Just simply body contact. He could have put Hird under physical pressure a couple of times but stopped short and Hird is under 180cm and maybe 80kg in the rain .As he matures he will become more physical. I suspect we will rue the day we let him go.
hopefully he watches how kieren briggs played on the weekend, should be the blueprint for him
