Player Watch #34: Jack Graham - MOVED TO WCE - PICK 42 Received

JACK G is a very under-the-rader player, I think what gets most people offside is that he looks like he can't run half the time.

Very capable and also a better user of the ball than TT. Games moving fast and he needs to get some speed when he needs to.

Been watching a lot of hotspurs lately, Soccer is so much faster nowadays, more athletic and quick running players, and even the defenders are super fast.

Footy of 2024 will need to be the same, speed and running is the name of the game.

A bit of cricket analogy here.....
Can't have Hopper, TT, Dusty, Prestia, Mac, Pickett and Graham all there, all pretty much med-pace bowlers now days (Prestia is probably a spin specialist). Need some Thomo ACTION in half of those positions.

His foot injury or recovery from it are not valid excuses as he was passed fit to play by the medicos. I do believe he should've got his match fitness through the VFL, but he played practically the entire season and his first game was no better on a fast dry track to his last game . This means he never got better and if anything he looked inferior as the grounds hardened. His best games were in wet slippery conditions which suits his lack of pace and good endurance running. Football sides do their homework on footballers after they have a successful start to their careers and JGTI has been found out that he's a one trick Clydesdale and can be burnt off his feet when the opposition have the ball as it's easy to get space on him. When they don't have the ball then he can easily be accounted for as he's easy to keep up with in a lazy jog. He's basically got no more hurt factor as tagging has been practically phased out of the game and the role of a tagger is no longer the underskilled Clydesdale type, but a two way runner with some speed to their armoury.
The role of a modern day tagger is not only to stop their opponent, but to make them accountable. Lachie Neale found that out in the this year's GF and his big toe has more talent than JGTI .

The same medicos that okayed Gibcus, Cut Lunch, Smith, JG, JR8, Soldo...?!?
(the whizz bang godees midfielder with the sniff/sniff and gambling problems okayed to play by their medicos?!?)
Fit to play...is one thing...to be able to play at your best is another...and all sides think they know more than their medicos...
Think these footy medical issues at Tigerland need a serious re-appraisal judging/going by our last few years!

is it time to pump up Jack Graham's tyres again?
showing leadership like never before
he's training well and he's doing a lot of speaking on behalf of teammates, picking the exhausted ones up off the deck, as well as running very close with Taranto in time trials etc
boom or bust year for him in 2024.

Still looked the same old JGTI yesterday. That being a hard working Clydesdale lost at Flemington racecourse. Can’t go with Pickett ,Kmac , hopper ,Taranto ,Dow , Dusty and this bloke all in the one team as we would be too slow and results will mirror last years. I would start with Taranto ,Dow , Hopper , Dusty and have Pickett come on as sub . Kmac and this bloke are cooked for different reasons.

considering the positive hype of being fitter than ever, I found Jack still looked a bit overweight and sluggish
and gave away two or three silly free kicks as well by being clumsy and second or third to the ball. needs to lift
Incredible what you read in the preseason thread. He didn't look any different physically or pace wise.

Got a feeling a few of our older and experienced lads might be playing a few games in the vfl this year.
I hope so as we need to move forward as last year set us back a year of development with The Dimma and then mini shows.

Without Taranto, Dusty and Prestia playing Graham was given max opportunities in the midfield on weekend and was shown to be a complete limp noodle when it came to center clearances or even preventing the Dees from clearing it. Must leave this off season Free Agency. Would've been nice cashing him in years ago with the Blues virtually offering the deal that ultimately was used on Cerra. Anything under his original pick 53 will do now.

Maybe wait til the season starts, after all it was just a match simulation
