Good time to shine the spotlight on Broad. He has conceded just 4 goals to his opponents this season. He's basically stepped up to Grimes' role, showing his versatility to play on and beat fast, crafty and tall forwards. Incredible work!

R1 vs M.McGovern conceded 1 goal
R2 vs Hoskin-Elliot conceded 0 goals
R3 vs T.O'Brien conceded 1 goal
R4 vs M.King conceded 0 goals
R5 vs T.McDonald conceded 1 goal
R6 vs N.Blakey conceded 0 goals
R7 vs J.Walker conceded 1 goal
R8 vs J.Cameron conceded 0 goals
R9 vs Gowers conceded 0 goals
R10 vs Ballenden conceded 0 goals
R11 vs Georgiades conceded 0 goals

thought Balta was on Cameron rd.7. Broad doesn't really lock down on a single player, but he is very good defensively which is the point of your comment.

If he goes to our NEAFL team, who or what picks do we get in return?

I'd prefer he stays at Punt Road but he may want to chase the big bucks being 27 and not in the system as long as some

I'm with you..... But I think we'd be doing well (given his age), to get under 30-35...

This.

Broady is worth a sthitload more to the RFC on the field for the Tigers than he would be in any trade value.

Broad would be important to the fabric, one of those unsung warriors we really rely on and if he went we would really know about it.

If he where to go we would want a fix straight up because the loss would be great

I’d be absolutely devastated if we lost Broady, he’d be a massive loss to the club.

He’s super close mates with Ellis and Suns would be able to other him a lot more money than we could so the threat is there. However I’ll remain positive that we’ll see him re-sign!

If someone else is offering him a big contract (500k+) then we should let him go. At the end of the day he’s a role player best suited to playing on the 3rd tall. The suns are idiots if they are going to offer him a big contract and expect him to play on the best forward each week. Our priority should be to sign players like Bolton, Nank and Tigga. With Grimes, Balta and Astbury in the side Broad isn’t even necessary

Suns have a bit of depth on their list now and quite a lot of decent players who can’t get a look in. If we were to lose Broad, and you wouldn’t want to lose him, then the Suns may be in a decent position to trade for him. I was just reviewing their team last night and thinking they need one or two really good defenders. Rance out of retirement would be a good fit for them was what I was thinking last night. I wasn’t thinking of Broad....campaigners.

The Suns currently hold 2 x second round picks, their own, maybe expected to start at around mid 24, and the second round pick tied to the Lions which will start around the low 30’s. Clubs galore could be looking to unload first rounders so they don’t have to use them on academy or f/s tied players, so you never know what deals can be done. Port fluked pick 11 for Polec and Pittard because North didn’t want to use it on Tarryn Thomas, so all things are possible. Not sure where Suns stand in terms of academy players this year but if they have an expected early pick we could possibly winkle their first rounder out of them in a deal involving someone like Broad.

If we can hold Broad we need to but if these guys get offers that are too big for us to match you just have to make the best of the situation.

The three other names mentioned on AFL.com.au as being out of contract with clubs “circling” were Nankervis, and Graham. Predictably also Coleman-Jones. You could really see Crows coming for the latter pair with decent offers and they hold two first rounders and two second rounders going into this draft. The Crows will have pick one and the GWS first round pick, which could possibly start in the top 10 given the current shaky form of GWS. The Crows will also have their own second rounder plus the Bulldogs second rounder and those could start at about picks 19, and 28 or so, but would be expected to slide from there.

I suspect this will be our most active off season since the end of 2016.

Bearing in mind good draft picks could be worth less this year because the high end of the draft is expected to be riddled with academy and f/s picks, my stab at rating the players mentioned in terms of draft pick value would be:

Coleman-Jones pick 16
Graham pick 22
Broad pick 20
Nankervis pick 28

These guys have some sort of decent currency. Hate to lose them all, in fact it won’t be good to lose any of them. But Graham and Coleman-Jones going to the Crows I could just about see that netting us the first round pick tied to GWS performance. And there may be some possibility that Broad could be packaged up with something else to get the Suns’ first rounder. This way we could start the draft with picks around 6, 10 and 18. With a certain junior Rioli to come later....

If Broad were to leave, Garth and Markov might be worth hanging onto. Or play Kmac in the back half.

Sounds like a bunch of journo's looking around for a story. Broad has a cemented spot, is half way through a season and I doubt he has even entertained leaving. I guess if he was offered big bucks he might consider it, but that can be said of most players. Why are the journo's targeting Broad.

Re Adelaide Tiger71 had mail that we were into a trade for Crouch. They pay 70% of his salary and get some good young tigers for our DNA. So if they got CCJ and Graham that'd get somewhere near the mark.

I'm not sold of Crouch. But given reduced list sizes mean we will have to lose these good young guys I can see how we'd try to load up for the next 3 years to win another premiership or 2.

Up until this year I would’ve been fine with trading him. Can’t let this be another butler situation.

Letting go of butler/Ellis and even Lloyd to some degree has been a major issue considering we have gotten absolutely nothing in return.

Its not always about being a Dodoro and screwing other clubs on every trade/player movement. Ellis & Conca were playing senior footy before being traded out. The compo we got was AFL's decision. I think Conca compo was lost because we got Lynch IN. Are you complaining about that? Both went for better contracts than what we could offer. Butler Lloyd & Miles weren't getting a game at Richmond so its hard to expect high draft picks in return. I'm happy to see them get games at other clubs. What a sign! that our player development is so good and other clubs want our players. Great for the individuals too that we aren't standing in the way of their career. Butler is playing real well but so is Aarts. Rioli & George are out of form but we've got Higgins and 5 other players who could play there. What we have got is a list spots for young guys like Ross, CJ, Chol, Balta, to play senior footy here. And crikey Dow, Hugo, Martyn look like prospects. That is what we have got in return
(St Kilda trades: Ian Stewart & Mav Weller > Bill Barrot & Butler ;) )

What's the point of this stuff when the club has a terrible culture such as sexually attacking minorities and dangling premiership medals on topless women?

If Peggy and dimma cannot develop richmond men. We might as well start being more aggressive at the draft, trade tables.

One of the best winning records in the AFL for over 50 games and two time premiership player. Essentially the missing piece to our initial premiership puzzle.

It’s an amazing story given he was on the scrap heap with a broken ankle half way through 2017. I would be using some of the Rance money on him and Balta as it is critical we keep both to retain our premiership chances for the next 3-4 years.
