Each to their own - in many eyes Murali only bowled a few legal deliveries in his career

Still turned it more. Head as your frontline spinner is a big no no

That will be their next excuse when Cummins finally win the toss and get to bat or bowl in perfect condition to setup the game in the 1st inning and win the Ashes. They seem to be making a lot of excuse instead of slamming their s**t "Bazball" and carefree mentality of all their players.
I’ve listened to a lot of UK cricket podcasts - I got the feeling that from the brighter members or thinkers that the fascination with Bazball was just about over and that they were ready to turn on it. Two things have stopped it from happening now and that is the Bairstow side show and Stokes epic display yesterday which was padded out by some dumb cricket and tactics from our men.

That they have had to order their traditional tracks be transformed into barren roads tells you a lot about the approach. Hopefully Headingly offers a true pitch and if so I’d think some folks are in for an interesting examination

Any word on what the Headingly pitch is going to be?

I expect Anderson will sit out the next test if the pitch is more or less the same as been served up. Interesting dilemma would be if it is a traditional Headingley pitch can he handle a three day turnaround. Headingley is traditionally very good for bowlers to pitch up and get swing and bounce unlike what we've seen so far.

He's not taking wickets, and he's becoming a worse liability in the field by the match (almost by the day).

So what's the plan for the 3rd test, just bat as long as possible and go for a draw?

Still play positive cricket but be on the safer side we don’t need to be agressive with declarations or whatever

So?
If I walked out of my crease and the ball hits the stumps I’m gone.
I was just stating what the difference is between a run out and a stumping.
As a former umpire I was astounded at how the commentators constantly referred to Bairstow’s dismissal incorrectly as a run out. FWIW I have absolutely zero issues with the dismissal and in fact have given several batsmen out in similar circumstances over the years.
The umpires on the ground should have had the courage to make the decision on field but the incompetent umpire at square leg wasn’t paying attention and was looking at the ground.

Not only leaving his crease but didn't even bother to tap his bat behind his crease, it's like the rules of cricket doesn't apply to him so he should be out lol.
He got a bit arrogant after being bounced I reckon.

It is very convenient for the Poms (and I suppose you could class me as one) that after both defeats there have been diversions. Far too much talk about what was a regulation dismissal and unfortunately it is taking away from the fact that this Australian side are 2 up away from home. That is a very impressive feat especially given England's recent form and the loss of one of the greatest spin bowlers Australia has produced during the second test. In both tests England have come very hard and have at times scored at T20 rates and yes there were wobbles (and earthquakes on BF and in Victoria) but unlike at Headingley / The Gabba, Australia still lived to tell the tale. Cummins has held his nerve with the ball at crucial times and Starc was superb in the second innings - even his economy rate wasn't that far above his career average.

Warner - has defied the critics and exceeded an albeit low bar
Khawaja - has overcome his demons in England and also stuck up for his teammates
Smith.- has shown again he is the best of his generation
Head - Travball > Bazball
Green - topsy-turvy but has still made some telling contributions in the field
Carey - unbelievable so far! So street smart!
Cummins - nerves of steel with bat and ball. Weak and woke he ain't (and I disagree with some of his views). Up with Lillee and McGrath.
Lyon - bowled very well in the face of all-out attack, vital runs to win the game at Edgbaston and BATTING ON ONE LEG and putting himself on the line for his country. Heroic stuff in sporting terms.
Starc - really stepped up to the plate and found his groove

So many things to celebrate and to shout about!

Well better get a few early nights in now before more sleep dep.
