The cherry on top of winning away Ashes matches, is that it goes half way to winning the next World Test Championship.

England losing home matches makes it harder for them to make the final. If Australia don't have to play England in the final(should we make it), we'll be short odds to win at Lord's against India, NZ etc.

Bangers in 2nd place that's a turn up 😂😂😂.

The lines blur quickly with Spirit of Cricket and the end result is events like the Bairstow stumping.

When is it Spirit of Cricket and when is it Letter of the Law? Can't be applied inconsistently.

Home team puts pressure on curators to prepare pitches that suit their preferred style of play...?

Catch that has been regarded as regulation for 100+ years is suddenly overturned on a technicality...?

Four straight hours of bouncers bowled (without any umpire intervention)...?

When it's been Spirit X, Spirit X, Spirit X... three times running and then the Aussies have a subsequent chance to uphold the Spirit of the Game and withdraw an appeal...?

Carey's been given the song master's job in the absence of Lyon which is significant if you look who's previously done the it.
Lyon just stepped out the door for a second and he pounced 😂

For a long time - I was a “Spirit of the Game” person but for me that stuff finally ended for good with the changes in the Mankato law. The preamble should be removed - it has no relevance and certainly no application in the game anymore

Well thats one case where whole team was all in on it they admitted they worked out as a team which mints worked best for ball tampering and rather than being attacked they got parades, poms really do live in their own moral universe where what you do it less important than who you are.
Soundsabitlikepolitics

Yeah having Green means we can play a spinner every time basically. I’d love to get Neser in the side though, but geez Boland would be stiff
I think Neser is a smarter bowler than boland , boland is afixed length stock bowlere that nibbles a bit, neser can swing the ball and adjust easily if batter after him, Boland showed he had no backup plan when the poms attacked him running down the wicket. My 2cents.

Has this been posted yet?

So they needed to, specially the pompous egg and bacon brigade who were bloody well abusive, perhaps even slanderous. The fact is the arrogant mentality from days of empire still pervades certain sections of English society and they cant stand it when we beat them at any sport, specially cricket. You know what I mean,''How dare those colonials beat us at anything, is the height of affrontery''

Despite the 2nd & 3rd tests being very close to each other I wonder if we'll just stick with our three most experienced quicks with Lyon out?

Especially with the series potentially within reach in this test

The Poms remembered when Boland ripped em a new one on bowler friendly pitches, hence the road pitches and this bazball malarkey.

Starc was tremendous at Lords, will retain his spot,he made the ball move on a road and with venom.

The only change I see is Murphy for GOAT.

Green is still a valuable player in my mind and a great cricketer that has many tools in his armoury.

I hope the G put on the cricket at half time on the tv screens.

If Atherton and Morgan both say no problem, move on.....end of discussion!
I think Atherton, Morgan, Strauss, Vaughan, Nasser Hussain and Mark Butcher have all come out and said they have no issue with it. 6 captains. (Butcher admittedly only the 1 test)

Butcher is obviously just blown away by it. Bemused at now we have this international incident. Just crazy stuff.

You Aussies got lucky and won the toss so you got to play in the perfect condition in the 1st innings to set up winning the Ashes (conveniently and hypocritically forgetting they had that luck in the first 2 Tests so are being hypocrites just as with the Bairstow stumping).
Tell us you didn’t watch the first 2 tests without telling us you didn’t watch the first 2 tests

Aussie batsmen would probably be well advised to dispense with the courtesy of picking up the ball and tossing it to fielding team if the ball stops near them.

I remember Andrew Hilditch being given out “handled the ball” against Pakistan in 1979, when he lobbed the ball to Sarfraz, the bowler. Sarfraz immediately appealed, and Hilditch was given out.

Apparently this was in retaliation for Allan Hurst “mankading” one of the Pakistani players earlier on in the same test. I would hate to see the same thing happen to one of our players.
Yeah Warner has been doing this and I think I recall even a half hearted joke appeal from the Poms in the first test. We should stop it now.
