Sorry Phat but the not out excuse for a high average is the worst reasoning ever.
You don’t go out of course your average is good, that’s the whole point.

He’s played 12 innings but he’s been dismissed 8 times. Hes only averaging 48.

This isn’t a batsman who is averaging 48 because he is piling on hundreds as he has never hit one.

Yes he has done well enough - he can obviously bat, but he’s batted down the order so fattened the average.

Ie. if you can finish 20* twice in a row, because the rest of team has been dismissed, and then you make 10, you aren’t credited with a 50, but it has the same effect on your average as making a 50.

When in reality, you haven’t played a single innings that is as good as a 50.

Not outs, especially in a shorter career, absolutely have an impact on someone’s average.
