33 matches, 61 innings and he's taken 4 wickets in an innings just 6 times.

If he takes 3 wickets in this match for anything less than about 175 or so he will join 3 other bowlers in a very exclusive club.

Only Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada and Dale Steyn have visited Australia and taken 25+ wickets at under 30 since Curtley Ambrose last visited in 1996-97.

That is serious company. He can bowl.

His only deficiency aside from his temperament where he lets this shit get the better of him sometimes, is that unlike Bumrah who actually is a freak at home, Siraj hasn’t learned to bowl in India yet.

It just shows though why it's hard to see selectors ever dropping the long-term players. You play them for long enough and the runs will come, however painfully. Warner recently is a case in point. Ditto Labu last test.

India's problem is that it's largely Bumrah or bust. Siraj bowls with a sense of entitlement and hurls down too many short balls, especially considering this is a flattish pitch.
