I would have agreed with you a few months ago. Couldn’t believe some of the names they threw up. Seems that somehow despite his rank mediocrity at domestic level Brydon Carse has taken to test cricket like a duck to water and Atkinson hasn’t put a foot wrong since he started.

Atkinson looks a very good player. Can handle the stick too.

Wood and archer will tear through the top order

They are more injury prone than Hazlewood especially Archer who struggles to get through a T20 these days let alone a test.

Atkinson and Carse are more than capable back ups, they bowled well in NZ and Woakes isn't the worst plus he can bat as well.

He’s never fit, but he also can’t bowl more than 2-3 overs at pace either. Useless in test matches and even in some white ball matches recently the team was better when he was ‘rested’
