It's kind of crazy that Khawaja will be opening the batting with a guy who is barely a few months over being half his age.

Got me thinking: when Brian Close faced that famous crazy spell from Michael Holding during the ‘Grovel’ series in 1976, he was being smashed from pillar to post by a bowler who was 5 years away from being born when he himself played his first test match.

Colin Cowdrey was old enough to be Jeff Thomson's father when he faced Thommo during the 1974-75 Ashes series.

Possibly as an allrounder for Marsh who isn't bowling.

Would you pick him on either skill alone?

He averages near 50 with the bat at FC level for a reason. Bar Konstas no one else does basically so yeah he’d get there on his batting alone

1. Labuschagne
2. Khawaja
3. Inglis
4. Smith
5. Head
6. Konstas
7. Carey
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Boland
11. Lyon

Yes let’s bring in an opener and not open the bloke no just no. Konstas is an opener and Inglis is NOT a test no3 he’d be barely a no5 and that’s generous he averages 30 ish or whatever it is.
