No, it’s about the significant number of Shield players who have put up far better cases for replacing incumbents over the last few years, and have been ignored.
It’s about guys like Glen Maxwell who have been overlooked for test selection, because he can play the game precisely as Konstas played today and it was deemed not suitable.
It’s a pure media / ACB campaign since the start of the summer that even has Konstas’ name in contention.
Hits a ODI ton against India A and it’s shouted from every stage managed puff piece script, ignoring the 7 matches leading in where he averaged 25.

Good luck to the kid, very talented, great eye, but let’s not kid ourselves that it’s a logical selection even if it pays off.

They picked a super talented player for a specific reason, it had logic and it did pay off.

We had a top 4 who all play very similar and were also struggling for runs. They selected an in form player who has a wide range of shots and clearly did it because they wanted him to play an aggressive style to put pressure back on the Indian bowlers. It had logic and they deserve some credit for taking the risk.

I follow AFL, NRL, cricket, NBA, F1, Tennis very very closely. I also follow a few other sports casually.

I have never met fans as miserable and whiny as test cricket fans. They just criticize everything and anything no matter how good things are going. Heck we whine when Australia dominate because it is boring but the second they lose they want to retire everyone.

Today was such a great advertisement for the sport!
