Because he's been the ultimate player in all formats in this generation, there has been none better.

one day cricket, sure. i dont watch enough t20 to know about that format.

but not in the format that actually matters, test cricket.

smith, root, and williamson, the other best bats of his generation all have more runs, more centuries and superior averages than virat kohli.

in the last 5 years virat has played 38 tests out of 122, so pretty much a third of his career. he has made only 3 centuries and averaged 31. in 4 of last 5 calendar years he has averaged less than 30.

if you think those are 'modern day GOAT' numbers youre delusional

Can we acknowledge how much better Pats batting has been this last year or so.
His second highest average for a calendar year. Best since 2017.

Smith hasn’t been much better lately, Virat is the only guy you can say is a great across all 3 formats over his whole career. Who else has been? Maybe ABDV would be the other one maybe.

I agree

Yes his stats with the bat in white ball format where the bcci have endless pointless odi series and t20s on flat batting tracks in India mean f$$k all to me .. it’s nice

But tests is what I go off and his ave is 47 that to me says a good player not a great one

He was averaging well over 50 for a long time, only the last 3-4 years he has been struggling big time.
