That was one of the best Ashes tour diaries I've read, well it was the funniest at least.
The worst was Merv Hughes Ashes tour diary from 1993 that he wrote with Ian Cover from the Coodabeens.
Merv couldn't be stuffed writing much and eventually gave up on it halfway through so Coves had to finish it.

It’s definitely not SCG flat, but if Australia picked more than 2 bowlers they’d have bowled India out for under 250. Hardly a flat pitch, just poor bowling.
No way Australia should pick Starc in Sydney, but they never drop him for Sydney despite his terrible bowling here and in Sydney most series.

Well they wouldn’t drop Lyon anyway, but Richardson would have been a big improvement on Starc and should play in Sydney, Webster in for Marsh.

The Indians have absorbed some pretty good punches from us across the 3rd and 4th tests. If we don’t go to Sydney 2-1 ahead I reckon we’re vulnerable. Can’t see Cummins and Starc being more effective in that match.

Full size grounds in those days and bats like tooth pics,bats of today puts more than a few on player averages,edges go for six these days and the quality of bowlers was high end
