Oh wow a 19-year-old excited to live out his dream in front of 85k. What a travesty.

What's wrong with trying to bring the crowd into it anyway? Has it led to misfields or dropped catches?
One could argue that Steve Smith was so disgusted by Konstas' antics, that his reaction time in the slips was 0.5 seconds slower and caused him to drop that flukey inside edge chance.

The whole selection process is arrogant. Over bowl our quicks when there’s plenty of opportunity to rotate, the evidence is very clear that they drop off later in series.

Plus no pressure at all on any of the top 6. The way other batsmen have looked untroubled on this pitch really puts an asterisk on Khawaja and Marnus “finding form”
It needs to be a cultural shift, India and England play far more as a squad nowadays with players more accepting of rotations depending on conditions and workloads whereas we still prefer to have a settled XI with minimal change. The one time we tried rotations with the bowlers there was a real pushback against it but it's something we should be revisiting and accepting as a part of the modern game.

Feel like it’s too risky to set them anything remotely chasable unless we see clear signs of the pitch starting to change during our batting innings.

Yeah it's a tough one risk winning it all or losing or just bat it out and go to scg 1-1.

So if we lose too much time then you bat til 400 you reckon even if we only have 60-70 overs to bowl them out?

Yep dangle the carrot but not so much we can easily be 2-1 down.

I don’t think there would be another Aussie cricketer that could die that would get as many tributes as Warnie.. they’ll be talking about him year in year out

Compare it to the amount Symonds gets.

Warne is the greatest of all time though.

So if you were a selector you would have dropped him after Adelaide? After our only win so far and after he produced his best ever test figures?
Dropped? No.

Use the full squad to our advantage to play to everyone’s strengths, keep everyone fresh and maximise results? Yes.

This will be back to back 5 test series where we’ve got progressively worse after looking like the best team for large parts of it.

I understand wanting to play our best as much as possible but it’s clear it doesn’t work and it’s not like the next blokes in line are spuds. Neser, Boland and Richardson would all be fine next to 2 of the others.

Kiwis not doing the Boxing Day test anymore.

They don't have a Boxing Day test in NZ like Australia and South Africa, it's usually ODIs and T20s there at this time of year.

So if you were a selector you would have dropped him after Adelaide? After our only win so far and after he produced his best ever test figures?

He’s too ‘marketable’ with his wife to be a pink ball only bowler to Cricket Australia, but he’d definitely be ‘rested’ for Melbourne and Sydney every year.

Probably shouldn’t play in Perth either.

But hey you obviously love the marketing so fall in love with his incompetence because once a year he takes a bag of wickets…

The fact that we have been unable to polish them off is a disgrace in itself. And I've seen enough of this crop of players that they will wilt when it's their turn to bat in these circumstances.

Don't believe me? Just you wait 24 hours.

How can I believe you about something that hasn’t happened yet?

I can agree or disagree with your speculation but you may as well come out and trash a band for an album they haven’t written and released yet.

One of the guys they are bowling to has already played a better innings than this one in Australia with a series on the line so it’s not like he can’t bat. The other is arguably their form batsman coming into this match aside from KL Rahul. This isn’t Chris Martin and Makhaya Ntini they are bowling to. They aren’t just going to hand over their wicket because Australia wants them out and the fact is Pant, Jaiswal and Sharma all basically got themselves out in some capacity as it is so it’s not as though they were 7-down due to incredible bowling/tough conditions and then Australia suddenly went ‘oh ok we will stop doing what we are doing and go away from these incredible plans that have made it impossible to bat.’
