Ok, so, go out there tomorrow make Bumrah bowl like two overs to make him go through the warm up etc, try to slap us to 350, declare.
21 min extra time, or 5 or 6 extra over. Use 3 or 4 to slap their way to 350 hopefully, get Lyon his 50, then get off if not all out, and use the regular 90 overs to get the win. They are blueing amongst themselves so hopefully they won't switch on.

Looked at the end of the day. That the Indians had to many Chiefs and not enough Indians.
Everyone was in Rohit ears. But no one got the job done.In this tight test 14 crucial runs scored, last over

Not losing from 333 in front with still a wicket in hand. Surely not.

Possibly it depends on how aggressively jaiswal and pant play (the former in particular) they are the 2 that can bat quick enough to chase it down.

But the draw would be my favourite here. I'm not sure Australia will have enough time to bowl them out and I'm not sure India are willing to risk losing to try and win it after tea tomorrow.

Sensational stuff from the lower order. I was pretty baffled they didn't declare with 20-30 minutes left but I'm ok with it now, especially after seeing Bumrah stagger in stiff as a board for that last over. We've worked them over a bit here. Still plenty of time to knock them over tomorrow and they are no chance of chasing down 330+ on this pitch on day five.

Cummins will get absolutely murdered in the papers if they hold on for a draw

A draw is better than a loss but still I would have tried to put them in tonight

Still would of preferred India 2 down overnight chasing 280

Oh well nice batting Lyon and Scottie

Think Starc has a niggle . give him time tonight to get right for tomorrow
What was the guarantee they would be 2 down?

They could have been 0-25 and only had 250 odd to get tomorrow.

Look if their top 4 gets going it's irrelevant as they would have chased 300 or 400 in that circumstance.
But if they lose a few wickets early and then finish 7 down late in the day that's when we will regret not going harder tonight and having the extra 10-15 overs. Jadeja in particular is the type who is likely to just block for a draw.

But with starc and Marsh cooked Cummins probably felt he couldn't risk it.

Marsh probably won't play in Sydney, but I hate the whole narrative from all the usual social media attention seekers about how now his test career over.

There is nothing about how our top order is batting lately that says to me that anyone's career is over if they can make consistent runs at first class level. No matter who they are or how old they are.
