Wow, just had a quick glance at the Gold Coast list management and trade thread and in the last 2 pages alone posters have mentioned Tex, Lynch, Himmelberg, Crouch and Talia as potential targets this offseason...

Seems like 'experience and leadership' is well and truly on the menu up north!

The biggest surprise is that Gold Coast have forum and that they have supporters who actually use it!!

I can't see Talia staying.

I suspect we'll make him an offer of a one year contract on substantially less than what he's currently on.

It's inevitable that he'll be be fielding offers from other sides - particularly those in premiership contention - that will be far more attractive.

Lynch would be a good get for the GC Suns.
His name is often mentioned by new Crows recruits in helping them settle in.

I'm not sure Lynch gets many (or any) offers this offseason. So if the Suns need experience and leadership and can offer a transitional player to coaching role for Lynch then he'd be mad not to take it.

Poor kid's been mismanaged to the death by Essendon. He's 192cm and by no means a physical beast and battles fitness and due to injuries they've often had him playing on the #1 forward. End of last year he had Tex, Jeremy Cameron, Day and Tom Lynch, this year he's had Ceglar, Dixon, Franklin, Daniher, Finlayson Darcy Moore - confidence shot. All 3 inches taller, fitter and 10kg heavier. And he did ok.

Give him a better matchup - one that allows him to zone off, intercept, run, beautifully kick, and there's a player there. Miles better than Kelly as the third/fourth bloke. And offers an element to the last line of defence we don't really have.

Worth a punt if he's effectively free. There's a player there once he builds a tank.

In all seriousness, we could get a win/win by moving on some of these players. The likes of Lynch & Talia would be valuable leadership to them. If it could help us land a Luko or Rankine, that would be a bonus... but even trade picks coming back our way would be OK.

lynch and talia wouldnt be worth anything.. if they wanted to go and suns wanted them.. i’d be happy to let the suns take em for nothing.

lynch is cooked and talia probably isn't too far behind him. keeping one or both of them for next year in a rebuilding side is pointless. Butts has taken talia’s spot and I want mcasey next in.. if talia is still around next year the temptation for the “club that must play its veterans at all cost” to play talia over mcasey would be too much.

as for lynch... he’s done.. and is a massively overrated has been.

Isn't that what they claimed they were doing by bringing in guys like Brandon Ellis, Oleg Markov and Jacob Townsend from Richmond?

I honestly can't see Lynch or Talia being moved up there, even for a huge pay check. Talia I reckon would only go to a premiership contender like the Bulldogs, or if he wants to go somewhere in a leadership position I bet the Bombers would take him too.

More useful than giving them priority picks.

AFL could then better compensate the clubs listing the players suitable to improving GC culture.

They have 3 reasonably high picks, it doesn't have to be pick 3. Get what you can for the four of them and use those wisely at the trade table. Crouch would be worth their Pick 19. Himmleberg I can see going up north for a 2/3 rounder. Lynch and Talia both 3/4 rounders. I could be way wrong with their value. Hell what sort of pick would you give for Tex?
