It's very much about connecting with fans. The club is South Australian and the majority of our supporter base is here. It's a brand statement to combat little brother down the road.

Agreed. I reckon it might also be a little nod to our interstate / expat AFC fans (of which we have many)

I finally see what it is now!!

It’s three bits of flat wood stacked on top of each other. That’s why it’s so confusing at low res - or with coloured borders.

Is a blue base - then the red bit - yellow bit on top.

What a ridiculous idea for a logo that is presented in 2-D!!!

They need to release 3 versions (always a bad sign):

1) 3-D coloured
2) 2-D coloured
3) 2-D monochrome

Wouldn’t be hard to turn that 3-D version into a colour one that didn’t have all the weird edges etc ..

Had to laugh at the MMM news grab, something like “received some criticism but one Crows legend likes it” then plays Roo saying he likes it.

No shit, he’s from the club and as a board member signed off on it!

It's wild that by revealing the logo on election day, they knew the logo isn't that great and wont be well received, but still went ahead with it anyway.

Straw poll with my non crows mates suggest they think it's somewhere between "not bad at all" and "actually pretty good".

Give it 12 months I think majority of fans will feel pretty positively about it (unless we finish 15th again).

I hope someone asks them about it. Will and Pembo had Silvers on and only brought it up after the interview

Pretty much. How many teams with animal mascots actually have good logos? Like logos that you look at and go "Yep. That's pretty ace." West Coast? Collingwood maybe? The rest are all pretty well bog average. No one really cared that Richmond were wearing a Tiger Beer label when they won 3 out of 4. Likewise Geelong and their... whatever the hell that is.

Replace West Coast with Hawthorn. The Hawthorn one is very good, and I've really never taken to the new Eagles one. Sydney are in the same boat there. The Fitzroy lion looks good, but that hasn't been used as a prominent part of a logo since 2000.

I actually like Catface, but I don't think I've ever seen a single Geelong fan say anything good about it, so that's clearly a minority opinion.

I know some people mentioned earlier that the logo looks better when you see it in small size (like as an icon in the AFL website) but I actually think it's better full-sized. When it's icon-sized it looks a bit too busy and low-res, you can really tell that it's a larger logo that's been downsized and has lost some of its detail as a result.

You know what these silhouette/monochrome versions at the club (taken from X) actually look pretty good;




So that makes me think the main issue is definitely that weird f**ked up disjointed red & yellow wing bit, what is honestly the point of that? It ruins it. The choice of outlining, the feet and the beak not being open are very, very minor issues compared to that.

If that silhouette/monochrome version is on merch instead I’ll buy it.
