the big issue at play here is the two long breaks for the tigers vs the GWS who have had two games in a row

rest vs rhythm

Pretty simple equation

our pressure vs their class

could go either way, a game i def wouldnt bet the house on, or my old dato 120y even

that said, Im on the tiggy train, so please god break the curse of helen and her bush of death, and let us win!!!

Very little about the game in this thread so here goes.

We beat Richmond at Spotless in on of the greatest escapes in a footy game in history. The Tigers beat us by a few goals at the G. This suggests there's not a lot between the teams.

People saying we play as individuals are completely missing the point, and frankly stupid. We had problems with fluency and ball movement that was obvious in the QF. We laid 110 tackles in the that game and won the contested posession ( albeit by 1). We were smacked because we were trounced in ball movement by the Crows, whose confidence and trust in each other was stunning.

We haven't had stability in the playing group or structures to build that knowlege trust and confidence this year. We had a strong finals series last year and have won enough close games this to convince any rational person the culture and that the heart and desire are there.

The Tigers have also, along with Crows, been strong in this area all year. Strong tackling pressure smooth ball movement and will have pretty much got them this far in my view.

I'm not sure who wins this, very promising signs with Cogs standing up inside ( getting back to his usual input) and along with Hopper gave Cal Ward some help in the trenches. As always any opponent has to match our outside run and spread, and this I see as the challenge for the Tigers. Our challenge is to match their fluency in ball movement and agression at the ball. I'm not sure about the former, pretty confident about the latter.

Regarding changes for us I say Stevie J is 50-50 with his knee the deciding factor. I wouldn't discount us playing Dawson Simpson as number 1 ruck with Rory supporting. Rory did very well at ruck against WC but I think it will be a tactical decision.

Tomlinson may miss as he's got no real match up against the smallish Tigers forwards. Corr and Davis can handle big and small opponents and we need Haynes playing loose in my view. If we play him it's on Riewoldt and one of our tall backs plays forward on Rance I think.

If Devon Smiths knee is right he may come in.

Lastly, as some Tigers supporters will be a bit torn about Deledio, I will be about Jacob Townsend. The guys all heart and effort and I wish him well, but in a losing team Saturday night.

Selection will play a massive part in whether it's close or not imo. Devon smith comes in Tomlinson out or Stevie j out I see it being close. If Dawson Simpson comes in and Lobb and Patton both stay in I think Richmond won't have any issues.

Big question for GWS is the team going to be spooked by the occasion and not be able to handle the larger opposition crowd as happened in this years qualifying and last years prelim.

No it didn't happen in last years prelim, you're dreaming. It's just another Bulldogs "look at me" we made finals once, post.

I'm interested in reading all arguments as to how Richmond will have a point of difference that can overcome last nights Giants.

Their forward line speed is going to account for nought against this mob.
You joking, the Eagles gave the Giants absolutely no pressure when they had the ball, giving them all the time and space in the world, the complete opposite to what will happen when they have the ball on Saturday and time and again the Giants have shown to struggle under pressure when they aren't given time and space with the ball in hand.

Keep crying those bitter tears teffy

Your pressure argument is a fallacy.

The Giants head your side in virtually all contested aspects aside from tackles inside forward 50.

Good luck getting those 2.4 tackles to make the difference.:thumbsu:

Im trying not to get to exited for this game because i dont want to get too dissapointed if we loose.
I took that mind set into the Geelong game and loved every second of it.

If we do loose it is still a bloody good year from the Tigers.
You could also look at it from the point of view that this is a chance to steal a flag so we need to take it, as who knows when we could be back in a prelim

Question to Giants fans. Coniglio was out injured for awhile. Would you say he's your least fit midfielder? Scully Shiel and Kelly are endurance beasts, so that just leaves Ward and Coniglio, really
Actually Scully leads the league in offensive running and Whitfield is third. Both Shiel and Kelly dont spend all their time running outside, but the more the better. Cogs is fine and had a great game Saturday night. What his addition does, is add to the inside grunt work and free Shiel and Kelly to look for space on the outside more.

Try watching the game rather then reading stats sheets.
For somebody that rates his footy IQ so highly you've really got nfi, stats only tell you so much, teams have different game plans that don't come through on the stat sheet.

Watch the game? Don't be silly. He has Kelly and Dusty threads to post in.

I'm just trying to think who Graham will go to. Maybe Taranto?
