I agree, and don't even care that my team lost. I've been denying and repressing the fact that this game simply is not adjudicated correctly on so many levels for far too long. There is just far too greater scope for differing evaluations and interpretations, coupled with rules that were farcically constructed to begin with. I don't even blame the umpires, but more direct my contempt towards the travesty that is the AFL as a corporate body.

The rules state the free kick can’t be downfield if the ball goes out of bounds. It wasn’t just a bad decision, it was completely against the rules.

Yeah, if anything, the kick should've gone back to where the infringement was made.

Lets not have a pushover as our CEO huh.. need to have a dictator that makes the rules clear before the start of the season. Umps and coaches in the same room. Put up or shut up. Only make changes after the season.

Freo only have themselves to blame. They were awful the whole last quarter.

The moment you stop trying to win and just try to avoid losing, you'll lose every time.

Good lesson for the coach and the whole team.

The connections of the umps and any large bets going through need to be forensically investigated after that, I can't remember consecutive howler decisions so obviously intended to give a team a shot at goal.

From Freos point of view...what can you do? there simply isn't a mechanism to appeal the result

I'm not sure. Usually, the umps at least try to seem impartial. Ump was clearly looking to find a free - when there wasn't one, he made one up.

Pretty bad look for a professional sport to be honest.

There's plenty of horrible decisions in every game that can happen at anytime. Just because this resulted in a shot at goal after the siren why is it any worse than any other terrible decision and deserve more scrutiny?

Momentum doesn’t matter when you collect someone high or in the back, so why would it matter in a late hit? Free kick was 100% there. Literally don’t hit someone after they’ve kicked the ball, it’s not that hard.

Commentators need to stop the weasel words and say it straight up...it was not a down field free and due to a wrong umpiring decision, the wrong team won. And then put the torch on the AFL and the dogsh#t umpiring this year.

But then they’ll lose their media accreditations. It’s an absolute racket and needs to change.

Mate, give them a break. The umpiring 100% had farrrr too much impact on the game. They got so much wrong and the last decision was no exception.

We were on the shitty, raw end of it last week... have some humility.

The umpires gave them a reach around for most of the game - I think we are entitled to feel unaggrieved by the last two bad decisions.
