Powaa no danger of winning the flag. They can't win away from adelaide oval.
6 from 6.in Melbourn this year, but thanks for.aying
Port could improve in weeks to come.....

But it just doesn't feel like we have been watching the 2021 premiership team tonight.
Entitled to uour opinion of.course mate, but not sure what more you want from a team to be -12 free kicks in a ahead and still bold a.goal lead.
Long 3ay.to go yet I know but
If port don’t make the grand final with a home prelim there’s something in wrong. Terrible record at Optus though.
Yeah,
They are crap against any side away from home though. Wouldn’t imagine it not being a WA team would matter much.
Check thier record.in.melbkurne this year mate, . We have a worse record at home than away , not sure.what your on about

Hahaha, they made the grand final last year. If they need to rebuild, so do 16 other teams. We might as well just pick who the best team is at the beginning of the season instead of playing, and the other 17 teams can just rebuild again.
It’s more that you’ve got such a significant age profile that is 30+
and not a heap of young talent that is getting a look in. It’s obvious the older players get exposed by fast moving game styles come finals. Stewart and Tuohy really hurt. If we saw what Allir did last night then that’s what Stewart does every week.

For who - Geelong or opposition? Henderson is cooked
They were all average last night. You might as well turf out the whole team and replace it if you’re going to identify Henderson as a weakness. Talia hasn’t played for two years. Why is he an upgrade on Henderson?

Theonly question mark on Talia is his ability to stay on the park. He’s younger and more versatile than Henderson and overall, a better defender.

He is not better than Henderson. Henderson is an excellent part of that defence and it all relies on Stewart and Tuohy. If Talia was out there last night you’d get the same outcome.

As many experts say, your never as good as you think you are after a win and likewise not as bad after a loss. I think the cats can rebound, however how deep they can go remains to be seen.
I’m no expert, but not only are finals built on high octane pressure, the pressure gauge needs to be hit higher for longer. Teams with great desire, a good spread of talent, emerging youth and a solid finals game plan always appear more threatening in finals ……. I see this as the major obstacle for the cats.

Geelong simply blow chance after chance. They have had 3 years that I can see that they should have at least won one flag. 2016,2019,2020. The way they have not adapted come finals is an indictment on the whole club. For years they’ve known that finals is played at a different intensity and they haven’t adapted. Scott continues to play the same way and go the same path of recruiting senior players at the detriment of youth development.

Port Adelaide were able to get on the outside far too easily last night and move the ball with ease. They pressured Geelong into errors and caused them to be ineffective going into the 50. They clearly didn’t have a plan to counter Allir and once Hawkins was covered they were very one dimensional.

Chris Scott simply doesn’t have an ability to move the magnets around and try new things. He is pretty much relying on big names starring, yet opposition coaches know that if the midfield is curtailed then it’s half the job done. They also seem to have far too many inside players. Selwood, Guthrie, Dangerfield, Menegola. They picked Smith to get outside and that’s fine but the imbalance is still to great. The reason they get the slow tag is because they look awful on the outside.

Why Narkle isn’t playing I’ve got no idea, and they need to start blooding kids next year. This year isn’t over, and they’ll most likely smash it in next week, but they’ve really got to look at significant change if they don’t win a flag this year.

They can definitely respond. But I think they might need to try something drastic and drop a few and put some younger players in or look to switch the magnets more.

I can’t see them rebounding with the injury list that’s accumulated over the past few weeks. And age/recovery will get the better of those still able to play.

Then there’s their game plan, I put a line through them at 3 qtr time last night.

I agree, they can definitely swing the magnets and add players. My concern for the cats is their pressure on the ball. Port last night reminded me of the tigers previous finals against the cats whereby they made the cats look indecisive and therefore slow.
The question is how do the cats put speed on the ball and change a system that’s worked through H&A now, because I think their game plan in finals is a bit flaky.

They’ve got no spread. They win the clinches at KP and get away with it because it’s a tight ground, but last night they just did not get outside enough and when Port did they just got burnt. It’s pretty rough to expect those senior players to be chasing all night. That’s on Scott.

At the coalface, particularly at centre clearances Danger and Selwood win the ball and without spread and options dump it forward, which is counter to the game plan of steady and precise ball movement.

I’m not sure the cats have exquisite ball use to counter finals pressure, but ballistic ball movement exposes lack of speed to win it back ……. I think their between a rock and hard place.

The throw yourself fwd when you get tackled to get a push in the back free should get the same treatment as ducking the head / high tackle

Not that the umps are any good at picking up the ducking the head but at least the dive fwd / no push in the back should be categorised the same way

Who gives a **** about the umpiring? It can’t just all be about umpiring decisions. People need to stop getting so roped in.
