I'd be pretty disappointed if I was a Hawkie supporter right now.

Not really. 10 point loss against the reigning premiers after we kicked poorly at goal, and endured a massively lopsided free kick count. Melbourne had a few outs, but so did we, and going in missing our two best ruck options due to injury was unfortunate against a team with Gawn in the ruck, and he quite predictably smashed us. 5 day break probably didn't help either. Did not drop our heads in the last quarter like we did last week against Sydney. Overall, I'd say most Hawthorn supporters would be relatively pleased with the effort, just a pity we couldn't kick straight, given the final margin was within 2 Ben Brown flops.

Those supporters must have low standards.

You played a team missing it's senior coach, 5 premiership players, and with another two crucial players coming back from COVID (and visibly hampered). Melbourne has been up for a long time and due a "down" game, which I thought was going to be this one. We were clearly in second gear, even before we had to activate the sub as one of our key defenders were injured, but you then let us walk all over you in the third.

Hawthorn drew last year, after having lost pretty much every game to Melbourne since Jesus played half back flank for Jerusalem. I really though you were gonna win and I think it reflects very poorly that you couldn't with so many Melbourne players out and/or down on form.

You do realise that Hawthorn had 5 players missing too, yeah? Coming off a 5 day break.

I mean, come on, we had to play a 1st game forward as a second ruckman. Was it not obvious?

No doubt Melbourne were missing players, but the reach-around the commentary gave Melbourne while completely ignoring that Hawthorn 1) don't have the same depth to begin with, and 2) also had players missing got a bit tiring.

Don’t engage with Donkeys.
