My pick firmly depends upon which toe big Max has damaged. Does anyone know?

Obviouslt the big toe is the important one, and the pinkie toe the least, but if he owns a Morton's toe (in my experience an indicator of balance and athleticism), and that is damaged, I may swing vote for this game.

I'm oddly confident this week, kind of feels like the pressure is on the Demons avoiding another straight set knockout vs us playing with house money.

I think Melbourne will struggle to score as has been the trend this year and our defence has been very good. If we can work around May and Lever we win.

Look forward to the midfield battle and hope we see minimal flops from Viney. Just play the game and let the bulls go head to head.

Pressure is well and truly on the underperformed Dees. Carlton have already made their pass mark. You guys are free to play your footy.

Gawn certainly didn't have his usual impact around the ground. Odd definition of 'pantsed' though.

Yeah he certainly didn't get pansted. We double teamed him with Pittonet and De Koning to try and limit his influence (which has worked for us this year) will definitely be an interesting battle within the game. Gawny will be very fired up, was most disappointed after the Collingwood game.

These two teams play pretty much the same game style as each other as does Sydney. They are both contested teams first and dont have the outside running talent of some other teams - both lean on their defensive structures spearheaded by Weitering for Carlton and May for Melbourne.

Melbourne unfortunately now sans Brayshaw which takes an important midfield weapon out and look (on paper) as having limited options in the forward lines to kick to. However both Fritsch and Pickett are capable of tearing a game to shreds such is their class and that is leaving aside Pertacca who can manufacture goals against any opposition at any time. Carlton's forward line is much diminished with Harry out with a concussion - effectively freeing up Lever to help cover for Charlie Curnow- and with Martin's suspension Carlton's smartest forward is now missing.

I have Melbourne's forward scoring capability on paper slightly more dangerous and better than Carlton's - where Carlton might surprise is TDK and possibly Silvagni being effective enough to create enough spill to give Carlton's blue collar hard working smalls some chances. I expect Charlie to be totally blanketed out of the game unless TDK can impose himself.

The midfield contests will determine who gets the most opportunity to score - and both are well enough credentialled. Gawn in my mind is the difference maker here and whilst Brayshaw's run will be missed - Cripps is obviously playing 'sore'.

I think the bounce of the ball will end up being the difference in this game - at the margin Melbourne have the finals experience to lean on and at the margin a tad more scoring power- based on available players.

Too close to call this one - for me anyway - until I put on the blue tinted glasses and say Carlton by 3 goals.

Out: McKay Martin
In: Motlop Hollands

Strong talk is we don't want to play players that have been injured or missed a lot of football. Still must be a temptation to bring in Silvagni

Well I guess Motlop at least is a forward - and if they decide to swing a combo rotation of Docherty/Cottrell into HFF duties Hollands would make sense too...

I guess temptation si to play Jack (or maybe at a stretch Kennedy) who knows if either can put in at least 3/4 of gamer time?

Shame the focus has been taken off a great game this week. Hopefully by Thursday normality has returned and this game gets the credit it deserves. I hate saying this and Carlton fans will probably hate me saying it more but I hope Carlton absolutely destroys Melbourne.

The talk is that we believe a lot in structure/game style and fit players can come in a do the job. A fit Silvagni is a no brainer for me but I can understand the hesitancy given lack of games. Kennedy the same.

With Motlop Hollands Dow Fisher all fit and available, and unlucky to miss the first final, it's hard to go past any of them for players that have missed a lot of football

I feel like Kennedy noway can be considered he has been out since July from memory?

JSOS at least played some VFL late August so might be some chance.

I wonder if we go smaller in defence with a Fisher in or Doc back to bring in Hollands. But would mean dropping one of Marchbank, Kemp or McGovern which I can't see happening either. :/

Team will be interesting

Tough call … blues have momentum but I guess this far into finals and experience in what to do would say Dees.
I reckon Dees get it done in a game that goes down to the wire and both teams playing their guys out to the very end.

Think the Blues are actually going to win this by a big margin, just cant see how Dees will provide a decent score.

We'll see, hoping for a close game, but just cant see it
Nah we never lose by big margins. We can definitely lose but it will most likely be by 1-3 goals. Our defence simply doesn't leak enough goals for us to get smashed.

Have you seen our forward line lately?

Granted Mckay and Martin are N/A but unless we start to lower our eyes even Tony Lockett would struggle to kick a goal.
