Henry was always walking straight back home. He would have nominated for the draft. How do you propose that Collingwood were supposed to keep him?

Him leaving led to Tom Mitchell coming who then went on to play in a flag.

Sure, that's kinda my point. It's not a blunder to not retain a player. Sometimes they are going to leave anyway.

Huge Captain's quarter from Cripps, that was the kind of game he would produce every 3 weeks at his absolute best. Good to see he can still dig deep and pull those performances out.
No diss on Crippa but his second goal in that quarter, goddamn. Amount of space Port afforded him, he coulda done a couple of cartwheels, few backflips, and still strolled into the goal to put it through,. Absolutely trash defending.

Nothing about in the final last year they left 4 Carlton players on their own in the goal square with 2 minutes to go.
How funny was 7xAA Premiership Captain Max Gawn punching through a certain Clayton Oliver goal on the goal-line with minutes to play, go Dees.

What a bunch of losers lmao

You're going to have a big win on the Kings birthday though.

Could have just kicked straight, then all of the above (which i have barely read) wouldn't have mattered at all...
But then we kick them, the umps reverse the goal for incorrect decisions. Like I said, I'm salty on several recent games against Carlton. horrendously umpired and not just in clutch moment but the entirety of the game.

Mad Salt GIF by Brimstone (The Grindhouse Radio, Hound Comics)
I literally said in my post that I'm unashamedly salty...

why wouldn't I be? Wouldn't you be if you had 2 hours of bad umpiring and multiple goals taken away or reversed? If anyone isn't salty, then they aren't a real supporter. We're the Adelaide fans not salty when the umps cost them finals versus Sydney?

so you just point to a piece of play where melbourne did a turnover and deflect about the inept umpiring that's gifted Carlton 3 games. The petracca non goal was borderline match fixing. As was the 'dangerous' tackle. Facing Carlton in the finals doesn't scare me whatsoever but it's whether the umps call an even game or not. The same thing happened in 2021 when the Dogs beat us with horrendously uneven umpiring in the regular season. But once in the granny, with neutral umps, we won by 80. So that's my biggest fear with Carlton, the noise affirmation blurring the umpires ability to make the right decision. Their defence is leaky, their midfield is meh. It's pure forward line. Against us, guys like pittonet were lacing them out from 50m. I don't bank on that happening again.

That's where you lost the game, forget everything else that happened, great play by Carlton resulted in 4 players on their own in the goalsquare. Forget about the umpys and think about Vineys kick that Weitering intercepted.

It is easier to blame the Umps though! 🥴

How much sleep have you had since these matches ?

Match fixing now, seriously

Sooooooooo salty

Who cares about the Dees in this thread, totally irrelevant.

Any interest in your own upcoming game!

What a discrace of a ****ing club Port is, invited my 12 year old Daughter out onto the oval post game for a signed football by a player they were supposrd to interview and because the pack of sooks lost they shunned and embarrassed her in front of 40k people

Just to follow up on this, so I sent an email to the club today to officially express my disappointment at the way this was handled.
Just now I received a phone call from the club asking me to tell them of our experience.
So i laid it out in full detail.
I explained that my Daughter suffers from bad anxiety and that we were actually apprehensive to put the clubs offer to her as she really doesn't like going outside her comfort zone and we were worried that not only would she decline their offer but opt to not go to the game in case she felt pressure to go through with it.
In the end we decided to give her the opportunity to make that decision and were both surprised and so proud of her when she said she would as it is quite a moment of self growth for her.

He said to me that what my Daughter did was something that is done at every home game and asked what I thought should have happened.
I said well if you invite a kid out onto the ground to meet a player and get a ball signed it should be fulfilled.
He said they never interview players after the game, he said they don't even let staff go near the players after the game because they are so upset.
I'm thinking this may explain why we are so soft, perhaps its scary to talk to people after a loss, even 12yo girls, like its scary to play in front of big crowds, big H&A games and finals apparently.
I said well why not either do it pre game to take the emotion of the result out of the equation or perhaps get one of the players that didn't play in the game to have a quick chat and sign her ball, someone like the Captain for example..maybe that's scary too, I dunno.
He admitted I had a point in that regard but said they already cater for up to 40 kids pre game so what my Daughter was offered was post game.
I said so 40 kids get a great pre game experience every fortnight and the poor kid who gets their experience after the game is at the mercy of the result. Last fortnights kid got a great experience, last night my daughter got the bad side of the coin.
But thats ok, thats probably not scary to Port.

Now you'd think at this point that there would be some form of admission that it is a poorly run experience but oh no, apparently all he wanted to do was tell me how disappointed the club is with me and that they're forwarding a report to the AFL about me because I dared to swear in the presence of his staff.
At first I was like, well that'll be an interesting thing to watch play out considering they just cleared a senior coach of swearing in the presence of men, women and children on the basis that it wasn't directed at any of those people.
Neither was what I said, I simply said it was a f'ing discrace that my Daughter was taken out onto the oval for nothing.

At this point he then went on to tell me my Wife was informed by his staff that should we lose there would be no player interaction, to which she strongly disputes, the only discussion they had was his staff asking if they were enjoying the game, his staff said it wasnt the result they were expecting and that it would be up to the individual player as to whether they'd have a photo with my daughter, a question my Wife put to them. Thats it, nothing else was said and my Daughter confirms that.
I said well you sent out a letter with the terms of conditions in it, does it mention what happens in the event of a loss, No he said.
Why not I asked, it outlines everything else, yes he conceded, I had a point.
He then said that his staff said I apparently said the club was Fing pathetic and that the players were f'ing pathetic, complete rubbish.

He then asked me what I meant when I said in my email that my Daughter felt embarrassed in front of 40k people. I said well she was, she said she was. I said she had school mates in the crowd who were waiting to see her on the oval with a player and that she was embarrassed because of how it played out.
He said she shouldn't have been embarrassed as he had 8 staff around her keeping her safe.
He then said his 2 female staff had to be consoled because they were scared and felt threatened because I swore at them.
I said I didn't swear at them, I swore about the events out of frustration in their presence, I said why would they feel threatened or scared with thousands of people around and cameras everywhere.
He said as a Man I had no right to tell a Woman how she should feel.
I said hang on a minute mate, you, as a Man, just told me how my 12yo Daughter shouldn't feel embarrassed, who are you, as a Man, to tell a 12yo girl how to feel.
He went quiet on that point.
Anyone seeing the double standards here.

He then, when I put it to him that the players could have made an effort to say something as they walked past her, tried to say the players were nowhere near her, that they were the other side of the ground.
I said that is complete rubbish, I have recorded vision of her standing about 10 meters in from the away teams race with the players walking past her to their race, a mere 15m away.

So in the end he never once asked how she was feeling, he was more concerned about letting me know how sad his employees were and how he had no other choice other than to report me to the AFL.
I said well you do that champ, I really dont care. I said whilst you're at it, rip up our memberships as I really don't care about that either. I don't care to support you financially, to buy your merchandise, pay for over priced food and drink or barrack for a club that'll probably never win another Premiership in our lifetimes because they make up the numbers in a league that is heavily slanted to benefit VFL legacy clubs.
That drew a moment of silence, to which i pointed out that his silence on that topic said a thousand words.

I then thanked him for his time and ended the conversation.

My Wife has since attempted to contact him to refute his suggestion that she was told by his staff about not having a player interaction if they lost but got his message bank, will be interesting to see if she gets a call back.

Another incompetent Gen whatever having to do a real man’s job.

Swearing is always the first fall back….like you’re not allowed tobe frustrated by events - it’s easier to say ‘it’s about me’. - it’s a dirtbag tactic and non-empathetic to boot.

My suggestion ? Write a HAND WRITTEN letter to Hinkley outlining your experience. Don’t make any threats, just detail the experience of your daughter and your frustration as a parent, not to mention how you feel you let your daughter down.

Why a hand written letter? No press staff will dare NOT deliver it - it WILL get read.

Good luck.

Sorry that your daughter had to go through all of that. I hope she can get some compensation from all this.

Thanks for your thoughts.

To be honest I really couldn't care to give it any more of my time, it'd be better spent enjoying the positive things in life with my Family.
The only thing I'd like to do is apologise sincerely to the 2 staff members who were unfortunate enough to hear what I had to say on the subject.
I certainly didnt mean to upset them but then I too was feeling pretty emotional after watching it all unfold off the back of another loss in a big game, but apparently only the players can be disappointed with that.

As for Port, they can get stuffed, I'd rather spend the $100-200 fortnight we'd spend on food, drink and merchandise etc. on taking my family to places where they feel wanted.

Sorry that your daughter had to go through all of that. I hope she can get some compensation from all this.

Thanks for your thoughts but the clubs spokesperson made it quite clear that they have no accountability on the matter and went as far as to say they'd never had anyone question it, lol.
I took that as they'd never been called out for their incompetence to the kid that gets dealt that hand, Im sure they just hand the kid back with a sorry and never give how that leaves the kid feeling another thought.

She doesn't want anything from them.

Might be an unwanted but sound life lesson. Businesses lie, cheat and are staffed by campaigners.
