We are coming off two weeks of travel and a 5 day break going into this game, looks like it has taken it's toll along with all our injuries.

Still not enough excuses for us being as bad we have been tonight.

I honestly believe Lyon is a year behind the AFL at the moment. He wants to play attacking , running free flowing footy like Collingwood, the crows and Carlton played last year where I think most of the other teams/coaches have caught up and figured that gameplan out and defense is able to shut that down. Ironically if he'd stuck with being 100% defensively minded it would have worked out better this year imo.

An extreme contrast r6 this versus last year when Ross was being lauded. Incredible reversal.

Naughton reminds of that day in 18 or 19 was it?...when he ripped the Tiges apart. But that day he was up against an excellent defence, tonight it's been like a tip toe thru the tulips.

Yes and no.

Technically he is playing fast, attacking footy, but it's off the back of an 18 man flood in to defend, followed by a slingshot back towards goal on turnover.

It'll work against the minnows on occasion...but it's not going to win you anything at the business end, much like his original style.

It will make the game unwatchable though, so there's that.

Worst part about this for Saints is there is not much development going on. Phillipou, Wilson and Owens need to be on ball for all of last quarter. Get something out of this.
