That #31 in yellow looked good for the Saints tonight.

They've been through enough over the years without being forced to put their hopes and dreams into Ross Lyon.Imagine being a saints supporter
If it was to do with holding the ball, than that would be relevant, however it's not.
Sure - we’d all like to see high scoring, free-flowing footy, but every team can’t play that way and I don’t mind the differences. Tight contest, close all night and went down to the wire.I just could not watch that for more than a few minutes at a time. I left the room to go cook dinner for half an hour and didn't feel like I missed anything and didn't feel the least bit drawn back to it.
Plugged must accept his team was giftedJust saw another replay, and there's no possible way that call can be given the green light. If anything it should have been a kick the other way.
That it happened 70 metres off the ball, in front of goal and with 2 minutes to go just top off what a shocking call it was.
Gifted was an understatement.Plugged must accept his team was gifted

Problem is they would say they are ‘technically there’ so decisions would not change. Of. Course ignoring the fact 100 of similar actions are ignored throughout the rest of the game. Why can’t umpires just put the whistle away unless there is something 100% obvious to pay
Umpires are just failed players who see this as their shot to influence a sporting contest!
. Game is significantly better for that, holding the ball rule. The game is unequivocally worse for umpires making decisions that: aren't there, or conversely not making decisions when they are blatantly obvious. We have seen what that looks like with umps instructed to not pay holding the ball & the game is significantly better now they are paying it again.
As to what goes on in your average umpires head, I doubt it is any more messed up than the rest of us...

Ok, I'll take that and run with, so if the umpire had done this tonight, "put the whistle away" the game result would not be talked about in terms of an umpire decision influencing the result. The discussion is about the umpire putting the whistle away, also known as not calling free kicks, so yes, it is entirely relevant.
From that image his right forearm/hand isn't actually making contact and his left arm is below the shoulder.Arm over the shoulder and the other making contact to the neck says otherwise.
By that logic Charlie Curnow shouldn’t get another free for the rest of his playing days
Well done. Must have taken some time to come up with that pearler. Will take a while for Joffa to recover from that burn I thinkI wonder if anyone on this board was actually alive when you last won a premiership….
Wardlaw should learn to flick his head back Jaimie Cripps style. From that image his right forearm/hand isn't actually making contact and his left arm is below the shoulder.
But it's a still so doesn't tell the whole story.
Why would any free agent want to go to St Kilda
Wardlaw should learn to flick his head back Jaimie Cripps style.
Congrats on the win it must be like Christmas but in reality no one cares about north, this thread is about the Saints and Suns shootout.Wardlaw should learn to flick his head back Jaimie Cripps style.
Agree. Why would any free agent go to a second tier club ?.
It’s set up to reward the successful ones, not the weaker ones.
More perverse than the Father-Son system for mine.
He totally tried slithering down like the snake he is to draw the free high. Not a personal insult, cos I mean to be fair its so widespread, but it's also on the umps to not keep rewarding it.View attachment 2014372
This was the tackle seconds prior to the Yeo holding the ball.
Last time I looked hand over the shoulder and contact to the head is a high free.
Let’s not be sensible though and let’s rage on that the second umpiring mistake is what cost the Eagles the game.
They've been through enough over the years without being forced to put their hopes and dreams into Ross Lyon.
They deserve better than this.
This definitely seems like the right thread for this pic to be appearing inView attachment 2014372

Just responding to some Tarps whinger that claims today was all Vic Bias and some big conspiracy. This definitely seems like the right thread for this pic to be appearing in

Knee to the jaw would hurt

Blueboys11 starts it that way, rumply you steer the conversation to holding the ball. Again, an opinion is fine, if you believe it was a free that's cool, we can disagree. Decisions such as this need to be called out, strongly. My opinion only.
I respect differing opinions on whether it was a free or not. It's important to have these discussions and call out decisions we believe are incorrect, as it pushes for better officiating standards. In the end, we all want to see a fair and enjoyable game.
