Squiggle is just one imperfect model. For what it's worth, Squiggle has the Bulldogs as comfortably the strongest side at the start of finals, stronger than several recent premiers.

In comparison, it has Sydney, Carlton, Geelong and GWS as not premiership-standard yet, and Hawthorn and Port of comparable strength to Richmond in 2017 and better than Collingwood last year. The 2023 Collingwood side broke new ground in terms of premiership winner weakness.

My only concern is a lot of Hawks hanging their hat on downing the blues with Curnow and Mckay as the twin towers for Carlton. Curnow was on one leg and Mackay is not much on his own. The Dogs tall forward line has troubled the Hawks before and will again.

As was the year before when hawks denied bulldogs finals, plenty on the line. The final is tipped the closest for a reason

When discussing both teams run in to finals, in which both teams have impredded , a side note is up till round 22 hawks were not often favourites in their games, whereas the doggies mostly were.

Weather may be wet, windy and outside at the G, which for me favours the hawks. But both teams train outside so it’s a subtle advantage

Hawks haven't had a positive free kick ratio in a season since 2018 and are dead last since records were collected of all clubs in terms of free kicks for/against percentage.
