Port have beaten Sydney the last 7 games

There is something there that Sydney cant counter

Why are they favourites?
  • Sydney are at home
  • Sydney have had the weeks rest
  • Sydney are almost full strength
  • Longmire had a look on him at the press conference after the thumping port gave them that said to me he is counting down the day until they get to play port again, expect Sydney's intensity to be off the charts tonight
  • Port spent an enormous amount of emotional energy last week getting up after the mauling Geelong gave them and that takes a toll
  • Port spent an enormous amount of physical energy last week with a frontal pressure game and that takes its toll
  • Port have key players missing through injury
  • How many times over the years does a side raise themselves for a tough emotional win in a final only to sink without a trace the next week

Port can win, but in reality, if Sydney don't then they have really choked as its all in their favor tonight.

I'm feeling very conflicted about tonight.

Do I want Port to put in an historically embarrassing performance, so I can watch the life drain from that shit eating smugness that is Hinkley.

OR

Do I want Port to lose a good game after they played well but didn't quite get there, so Port sign Ken up to yet another extension?

I would be very very afraid if this game was at AO. Odds would have been flipped IMO.

Mind you it would have meant that Port won in W1 and Sydney made it to a Prelim, the "hard way".

I think Port will surprise tonight, a "nothing to lose" mentality is what I think Ken will instill in them. Of course there is so much to lose, but as big underdogs going into the match, no one is expecting to beat the best side all year at home. This is when Port can be dangerous, because Sydney do have a lot to lose. It will be a massive choke if they lose and the Swans players may be a bit "careful" in their approach. Im sure some Sydney players will be "protecting" themselves in order to be available for a GF and not injured tonight.

We have seen this over the years when hot favourites in a Prelim go into their shell, Hawks v Port and Hawks v Crows Prelims spring to my mind here.

Port to lose a good game.

Clubs and fans will be behind Ken again.

Port will believe they just need another missing piece.:drunk:

Port will go on to win the flag in March next year, wash, rinse, repeat.:rainbow:

It all comes down to the start. If Sydney do what they normally do and fluff it, they wont catch Port.

Ken is safe no matter what happens tonight. They have already won their Grand Final against Hawthorn.

I want this game to be over at 1/4 time. 6 goals to none. Butters with even more sore ribs, JHF with calf soreness, Dixon playing his no standard witches hat game, Kenny coaching from the box with 300 Diet Cokes...

Otherwise going to have to console myself with the dubious betting money here (10-1 is just too good given the teams left in it and their individual vulnerability).

Unfortunately thats looking unlikely. So brace yourself for Port to lead at QT.

In Sydney's last 7 games, they have been behind at QT in the past 6/7.

The only game which they led at QT was vs the Crows.:drunk:

Safe and will be extended in August next year if they are in the Eight.

Unless he quits.

The WCE job was just media BS to create clickbait/discussion and give false hope to Tealsters...

He might well.

Had to put up with a fair bit this year, and if they have a couple heavy-ish losses early or another Showdown loss, the torches and pitchforks will come.

Although if they win a flag he might extend in November.

I hope Matt Roberts plays the game of his life tonight!
Now that will bring a tear to the eye to see that boy out there in a prelim final.

Too slow they said, no weapons they said, athletic profile not good enough they said.

Proven them all wrong - still a spot for smart and skilled footballers in todays game even if your not also competing at the Olympics for the sprint or high jump ha ha

Has a weapon of a kick, would have loved us to have drafted him.

I'm still dirty we didn't take him. But we never really had a chance he went two picks before Soligo and I'm happy with that choice but he'll be another one lost to the wilderness.

Or another Jordan Dawson
I guess the only way is to pay other clubs to develop players for us.

Adelaide have been notoriously good at developing defenders but absolutely woeful at developing midfielders.

Forward wise we've just been incredibly lucky we've had two generational style tall forwards and one small forward in our history to disguise us from that being an issue, just sad the one time our midfield was excellent we didn't have one of them and were relying on Ian Perrie Scott Welsh Ken McGregor and Trent Hentschel

Hentschel wouldnt have been the issue until.......

He was just about to explode, until his knee did.

Taking this Fun Fact Further......
