He was pretty sore in the hip after HT last week, that's all we know ATM.
I think he'll be ok. It could be neural which gives you an ongoing dead leg. Slows you down a bit and if you look at how he was moving, he was still getting to the ball, but didn't have the usual time he makes for himself to get free and deliver it.

Yeah i agree, i think he just got a knock, they wouldn't have risked sending him back out if it was soft tissue related, still doesn't mean he'll be right for this game though, he was obviously sore and with the short backup coming up they might err on the side of caution.

After reading this thread i get the strange feeling that...

The Collingwood - Richmond rivalry is back. Supporters seemed fired up and no longer are Richmond just the team "we use to hate but now laugh at".

Will be at the game and hope its a ripper. We will crush the pretenders again

Just hope Bucks and his boys turn up and take the game as lite as your good self. ;)

So who do we nullify? And how?

From what I've seen in the first 3 weeks, I'm very confident we can play King on Shaw and get inside his head, he's your general while the skipper's out. However I can see a few 50's going your way if this happens.

Elliot needs to be put back in his place, needs to be roughed up a bit, Steve Morris will be all over him from go to wo,

Jackson or Grigg will go to Pendles, Grigg is an underrated stopper, and can run all day, he'll also hurt him the other way.

I reckon Lukey McGuane might get a job on Harry O, to make him accountable.

Any way, lets hope for a great game! love playing you ferals :)

I miss Brad Dick  The punch from King was ordinary. Loved how the boys responded. Can't blame the Tiges for sticking up for themselves either.
Yeah the punch was pretty ordinary but I love the on-field rivalry between the two teams.

I walk away hating Richmond but loving the game every single year (that's only because we win all the time lol)

I dislike Carlton more than you lot but I look forward to games against you more.

Our clubs are mirror images. We are actually so similar in so many ways that we are in truth the real Melbourne Derby game. We have been marked absent for 30 yers. Ghosts at the table. If we stay up and if you don't go into decline ( just as likely as us doing so ) these games in the next few years will be the loudest, most intense series of H and A games played since the 1970s clashes between us.

Bookies say you by 5.....they reckon there is less than a kick of the ball between us.

interesting to see if tigers give Elliot some space, give him space, he'll cut you up.

Yup, I'm reserved about the Morris/Elliot matchup. I've seen smalls slip away from Morris and have a good day out, and Elliot right now is kicking goals. In fact can see Elliot kicking more goals than Cloke this Saturday, and him being the difference between us winning or losing. This game is gonna be loud. Pies by 16.

Good post, but Harry is playing higher up on a wing this year so most likely McGuane will get someone like Goldsack who is likely to play defence in the absence of Maxwell (and we'll probably drop Frost...or Reid if injured)

The Tigers have improved no doubt, but their no better than any other team making up the numbers in the 8, IMO there are 3 groups in the 8 ATM (come seasons end), the ones to beat (Hawks-Cats-Swans), teams with potential to compete (Pies-WC-Freo-Crows) and the number maker upeters (North-Tigers-Bombers)

Crows?? They are looking very very average.

Hello Pies supporters,
Over at the Tiger board we have a banter thread for opposition supporters to stir shit up without the fear of repercussion. It's a thread where anything goes and it won't be as strictly moderated as the rest of the board. I hope you guys can come over and make full use of the thread.
Thread is here --> http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/richmond-vs-collingwood-dea007-in-octoeddie.999666/
Thanks - Hope to see a few of you brave Pies supporters in that thread.
Richmond mod squad

I think Richmond can cause some damage in September. Their midfield is unbelievable and all firing at the moment.

The backline is now solid with Chaplin, Rance and Grimes...and they have some run out of there with Batchelor, Houli, Ellis and Morris. Petterd has also added something off half back because he is strong in the air and creative with ball in hand

Where they may lack a bit is up forward. Riewoldt is an obvious star and someone I think who will stand up on the big stage. But still question marks on Vickery and McGuane as genuine buffers for him. Both are going along good at the moment, but the question is if they can sustain it.

Also, they could do with a few more crumbing options. Nahas and Edwardes are dangerous, and if Knights can get going then he is a decent forward flanker. Jake King is underrated as well (as much as I hate to admit it)

That said, they get a lot out of Deledio, Cotchin and Martin as make-shift forwards. So there is goal-scoring power there. They probably just need a genuine crumber who can kick 3 or 4 in a final. But there are a number of guys that can do this.

They really haven't beaten anyone of quality yet, but the way they are playing is exciting to watch.

At full strength I think we have them covered just because we still have a bit more depth in every position. However, you would just about give the edge to Richmond based on the sides that will run out on Saturday and given the match fitness of some of our elite players.

Did you hear KB's take this morning? Might be the Tigers getting a little ahead of themselves.

Think we need JT back in and/or maybe Daisy to do some centre square work. I think we have them comfortably covered at both ends, but we could get smashed in the middle and lose.

Out: Sinclair, Russell

Sinclair - was not our worst, but was pretty bad. He probably matches up on Houli if he stayed in, but I was expecting him to clamp down on Birchall last week and it didn't happen. So, he's out.

Russell - defensively not as bad as some people reckon (just a bit suspect under the high ball against zippy forwards like Harry), and his foot skills are decent. But his decision making is ordinary and he is surprisingly slow. I don't think we can carry Johnson and Russell at the same time in the team this year and if Russell doesn't find a way to improve, or reinvent himself in a new position (possibly an inside mid/tagger), he will won't get a look in unless injuries force our hand.

In: J. Thomas, Krakouer/Didak (sub)

J. Thomas - need him in and around the stoppages. Was apparently really good in the 2s with lots of uncontested possessions meaning he's worked on his outside game and spread.

Krakouer/Didak - both classy, but may not be able to run out a full game.

Fasolo comes into the starting 21. Was very good in limited gametime and will be better for the run. Elliott will be getting a lot of attention from Morris, so Fasolo might get off the chain and kick a bag. Another option is to use him in the midfield while Sidebottom spends more time forward.

So the team looks something like:

B: Toovey, Brown, Frost
HB: Shaw, Reid, Clarke
C: O'Brien, Swan, D. Thomas
HF: Fasolo, Lynch, Sidebottom
F: Goldsack, Cloke, Elliott
R: Hudson, Pendlebury, Blair
I: Johnson, Dwyer, J. Thomas, Didak

Also possible ins/outs I wouldn't mind would be Frost -> Macaffer/Paine (Goldsack moves back), Clarke -> Seedsman (although Marty hasn't put a foot wrong and can tag the occasional outside player, he still is a bit slow unlike The Seed), and Hudson -> Witts (not ideal, but 3 games in 12 days is a bit of an ask for Hudson).

I'd also put Mooney ahead of either Krakouer and Didak atm because he's a decent goal kicker, insanely quick and provides forward pressure, but I don't think we can play him, can we?

I am hoping you are Damien Hardwick, love to see McGuane chasing Harry around on a wing!

I think there is a chance Newman & O'Brien might go head to head in their new roles, would be a great battle.

With Ball & Beams out I think the question should be who do we nulify & how. There are three guys that obviously need some stopping in Cotchin, Deledio & Martin. I think Cotchin is like Pendles, its a waste of effort trying to tag them as they will win the ball one way or the other. Love to see those two go head to head. Make it happen Damien!

Deledio is the guy I think we need to stop, simply because he uses it so well. We can't allow him any free space to use it. The one positive from last week is we actually shut Mitchell down who usually tears us apart and uses it so well. More of that please Bucks.

I am not sure about Martin, when he is on he is damaging, hopefully he is off. I think he is the sort of player you want to make sure doesn't get any easy use in their forward half, like to see maybe Sidey run with.

Nah, Mooney can't play unless we put another player on the long-term injury list.

Agree with the team.

I wanted Josh Thomas in last week - not because he's a world-beater now but because I was sure we needed more support for numbers 10, 11 and 36.

Also think seedsman could be used for Russell or Benny J who have both been average in he backline

People need to take their blinkers off with benny J, his form this season has been terrible by his standards.

KB is an entertainer. His actual persona vs his on-air persona are very different. He's taking the piss 99% of the time when it comes to Richmond.
